Wait, shouldn’t it be a deficiency of love? If fear causes psychopathology, and love cures it, does that mean that love counteracts fear?
What about disorders that appear to be due in part to reduced activation of arousal (I.e. not enough fear)? For example, Conduct Disorder is associated with reduced activity in the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and smaller volume of the amygdala. They show lower amygdala response to fearful and sad faces, suggesting a potential neurological underpinning to deficient empathic responses to others.
I think very carefully about what I say, even though I know the answers on this board will always be critical, rude, and assumptions not in evidence. Fear and all the subsets of fear are the cause of trouble. No matter how rich someone is it is never enough. With love you can find the enough you seek. Love casts out fear. Fear of life and fear of death. It provides understanding and awareness far beyond this universe.
No, you have nailed it. Fear leads to anger, thence hate and before you know it, the Dark Side. Next thing, you find yourself slaughtering Sand people. But the unconditional love of your long lost son may save you in the end.
OK, tell me a little of the simple process you learned, through which you teach others to cure themselves. Specifics, please. Was it books? A guru? Your own insights? If your own insights, how were they developed? You are claiming superiority to the vast profession of psychiatry, and its decades of scientific process, and all you got so far is a Beatle’s lyric as far as I can see.
I have learned it from books, experience, research, and my own insights. I have extensively read in the fields of psychology, philosophy, theology, psychiatry, spirituality, self-help, and anything else that touched on the human condition. I cured myself of depression, anxiety, migraine headaches, and related symptoms. I have written three books, and have a large website that attracts thousands of people every week. I don’t consider myself an expert on anything. I don’t believe in experts. Humans are unique and what works for one won’t work for another. People write me and ask for help, I help them as I can. I cannot help anyone that won’t work at helping themselves. Babies are not born with mental problems, they learn them and they can be unlearned. I start with some affirmations, if they do them then we can continue. Those that refuse or don’t want to do them I can’t help. A couple of things: when I use the word God I mean unconditional love and nothing else. I don’t believe in, or know about any devils or demons. They do not exist as far as I am concerned. Science and psychiatry makes a mistake in believing this is only a material world. For that reason alone they fail in many areas of life.
Looking back at how greatly you [del]re[/del]misinterpreted Freud, I shudder to think how your unique thinking process mangled “… psychology, philosophy, theology, psychiatry, spirituality, self-help, and anything else that touched on the human condition.”
I reject your claim of having read extensively in the fields of psychology/psychiatry. Upthread I mentioned several extremely well-known names in the field that you did not recognize.
I’d like to hear more details about your ‘research’.
Be fair! How could you expect someone who believes in the curative powers of unconditional love to have heard of Carl Rogers? And where could anyone have ever heard of the tabula rasa role of the therapist in Freudian analysis?
If you’d stop saying things like that in Great Debates, we could. But as long as you keep putting forward nonsense arguments in this forum there will be posters who keep pointing out your nonsense.
If you love somebody, set them free. Because love will find a way. Love is the drug. Love is the seventh wave. Love is the answer. I want to know what love is. Let me put my love into you.
Pray tell what you would do when you tell someone about yourself and what you have done in life and they say “no you haven’t” as if they were privy to everything you ever done. Totally irrational comment. I have no answer for this, I don’t want to discuss what I have done with someone that doesn’t have a clue as to who I am.
