I have some meringue cookies that are about two years old. Brand name is Miss Meringue; ingredients: sugar, egg whites, natural flavors, vanilla extract.
I’d bought and stored them in the pantry, where they were hidden and forgotten about until about four months ago. I ate two of them about two months ago; tasted fine, and no ill effects. Hubby says it’s time to throw them out. I say they’re still okay. I hate to waste anything (especially food!) No sign of mold, no bad odor. What say you?
I’d go for it. They’re awesome even when they’re a little stale; they remind me of cereal marshmallows like the ones from Lucky Charms.
Watch the show Hoarders - you’ll be throwing out stuff right and left.
Seriously, my guess is that the humidity will have them pretty unpalatable. But you can give them a try. If they aren’t good, toss 'em.
