Well, I want to extend a big hearty handshake to jdavis, TubaDiva, our administrators and moderators, and all the people who have made this upgrade work!
We have been a whole week now without the board having to be brought down for “maitenance”.
I haven’t seen that in a long time.
Congratulations all on a tremendous achievement!

Sucking up!
Research has shown that “sucking up” is only possible where two conditions can be met: first, there must be an actual corporeal anus and actual corporeal mouth, capable of coming in contact, even if only at long distance. Second, there must be some possibility of reciprocity, in other words, favors performed for favors received.
Since JDavis, Tuba, and the others are first of all, not corporeal, being nothing more than imaginary message board personas, and second, are not capable of reciprocity, being nothing more than pixels on a screen emanating from locations all over the world who couldn’t do me any good even if they tried, I have not the slightest fear of being accused of “sucking up” when I say to the entire administration, moderators, techs, Cecil, the Straight Dope Advisory Board, secretaries and janitorial staff at the Chicago Reader, “well done!”
I actually meant that I, too, was praising everyone connected to the board with a job well-done. I chose my phrase poorly. *mea culpa]/i]
