Merry Christmas Everyone!

I’m having a nice Chrismas Day, though I’m spending it alone by semi-choice. Because of odd timing issues most of my (scant) gifts were opened early, so the only gift I opened today was courtesy of our own helena330 via the SDMB secret Santa exchange. Opened alone, which was more than OK since explaining why receiving a horseshoe painted purple - and being moved to the point of laughcrying by it - would have necessitated giving away my username, which would be an even bigger breach of my soopersecret identity identity than telling y’all my IRL name. Well, okay, not really, but it would feel that way!

Otherwise I’m enjoying the glorious luxury of napping, watching TV, ignoring the sinkfull of dirty dishes, playing with my python and my kitty* and just generally farting around. I have a date tomorrow to anticipate and look forward to, a couple of nearby neighbors for company should a less introverted mood strike, and a to-do list of both  and  things (cleaning the balcony glass so I can see the bird feeder better, de-gunking the bathroom sink, teaching myself to knit, roasting one last batch of pumpkin seeds, candying some citrus rolling around my fridge) to keep me busy should Netflix lose its shininess. I didn’t plan ahead for any special dinner to my regret, but there’s always tomorrow, and I’m leaning towards having bacon and eggs for brinner anyway.

ETA: oh, yeah. Merry Christmas everybody!

  • While meant literally, as in I have both animals as pets, there is simply no way to type out that fact without even the most casually of gutter-minded taking it a bit differently. Ah, well, ce la vie.

Merry late Christmas evening! It was a nice quiet day here too…we did our family gathering yesterday at my mom’s, and today the kids went to be with their dad. So it’s been a day of watching tv, eating snacks, cooking for fun, and drinking lots of coffee. And I started knitting a hat for a friend’s grandbaby.
purplehorseshoes, I’m having a knitting day tomorrow. If you really take up knitting and need to vent (or ask a question!) pm me. I’ll be around!

Merry Christmas, people!

A Very late post… but the house needed cleaning, the guests needed feeding, glasses needed refilling and the fireplace needed lots & lots of wood. (That Elm may have been a b-tch to chop, but Man it burns well.)

Yeah, I know: no tip.

But… I Do have a clean house, lots of leftovers, and some new stuff that I needed but had been putting off getting. Also, it made me smile to see good friends & relatives eating food, drinking wine, and laughing endlessly
over the foolishness of the past year. Its a lot like here… if you ate well or had a glass in your hands.

“Og Bless Us; Every One!”

I got off work today, after cooking Christmas dinner for the old folks at the old folks home. Stopped by the store and bought beer. Made a point of calling my mother right away, while I was sober.

Got her voicemail.

Naturally, she finally returned my call when I was drunk.

I think Kermit sums up my wishes towards you very well.

I also wish you all many future holiday seasons that you can look back on and think, That was a good one, wasn’t it?

Merry Christmas, from the centre of Saudi. It’s not ‘done’ here but we (the christians - there are many) have trees decorations, presents, gatherings, congenial meets are far more frequent than you’d think. Even the mutawa, the Religious Police, up their road stops, checking for drunk drivers. They won’t say they’re stopping every car that isn’t a taxi because you might be under the influence, so why do they come out in force at Christmas? You wear a Santa hat and they respond with laughter.

Apparently, I’m not wearing a Santa Christmas suit, honest.

Merry Christmas, all Dopers. Hopefully 2015 will be better than this year, which was a bit shit.

Had a great Christmas!

My son is almost 5, and altho he “got” Christmas last year, this is the fist year he was really into it. He was reasonably patient about it, too, especially when we told him he could only open two presents before church. His special present was an Olaf doll, and his aunt gave him a copy of Frozen, and later that day we watched it together. (I hadn’t seen the movie. It was pretty good; I can see why it’s become so popular.)

Happy Boxing Day to you all!
