Message Boards for Teachers/Professors?

I’m doing some research for a graduate class, and would like input from high school and college teachers/professors – specifically, those who teach American literature. I plan to ask the mods here if I can start a Cafe Society thread*, but in the meantime I’m just looking for virtual teachers’ lounges.

I’ve done a couple of cursory Google searches, but am having trouble finding message boards that either have more than a few active members or that aren’t restricted to faculty members of a particular school. I know there are several Doper teachers (keep your eyes on Cafe Society!) … any suggestions?

*To avoid the appearance that I’d be asking anyone here to do my homework for me.

All I’m aware of is this:

And Adjunct Nation, for part-timers. Sorry, I don’t know of any specific ones for Lit.

There are a ton of academically oriented Livejournal communities (of course, you’d need an LJ to post, but signing up is free and easy). Try Academics Anon or Instructors, for starters. (There’s probably a comm or two out there specifically for American lit, for that matter.)

You may want to subscribe to some listservs. I subscribe to some of these, some of the lists are active, others… not so much.
Some of these boards might help you out too.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to this thread – thank you, everyone who has given me suggestions!

Fretful Porpentine: I already have an LJ account, but it never would have occured to me to check the communities there. Thanks!

The Chronicle of Higher Education has forums that are available - you have to register to post, IIRC, but you can keep all your information private if you want.
