Metro Area Dopers: Armed and dangerous?

Hey, let’s get the Metro Area Dopers together and go shootin’! A weekday, preferably a Wednesday or Thursday is best for me. I have guest passes (five of them) at my range, which is in Newington, VA. Aside from that, it will cost 10 bucks for an hour. You have to bring or rent gun, eye and ear protection, and supply your own ammo. (pistols only.) I get a discount on the somewhat expensive ammo as a member, and am willing to buy if reimbursed.

If someone else has access to a more centrally located range, I am game for that as well. No guns in DC itself, of course. I am not sure about Maryland.

So, what about it?

The “Metro Area” is New York City and the surrounding area.

I was all psyched to go shooting until I realized that you had misdescribed where you were.

But I’d totally go otherwise.

I won’t be joining you, but I hope you have fun. The range is great, and it’s been far too long since I’ve been.

Maybe I will just go shoot myself.

I mean . . . by myself.

Don’t be a putz, Happy Scrappy Hero Pup: “metro area” applies to DC and NYC (and probably several other large cities, too). Triskadecamus just spelled out the acronym incorrectly: if I’m right, MAD stands for Mid-Atlantic Dopers.

(I’m not a shooter, Tris…sorry!)

I just wanted to go shooting.

Can’t fit that drive into the schedule. Was a little tongue-in-cheek about it, you know, playing on our famous NY-centricity.
Jeez. It was a joke. Don’t shoot me.

Everyone be nice.

After all, this is the armed and dangerous thread.

So what does your club / range have available to rent?

.45 1911?

.44 Mag?

.357 Python?

Desert Eagle in anything?

anything in .454 or .50 AE?

I’m sure you’ll have a buch of wonder 9’s, and some .22LR “first timers”

Our range here has some renters, which is very rare in Canada.

They have some 9mm & .40 Sigs, one or two Kimber 1911’s, a Cowboy Colt 45, Ruger 44, a .357 Revolver (Colt, I think) a Wildey .45 Win Mag that weighs a ton, and some Hammerli competition .22’s

Give us a quick preview.

trupa, who will be with you in spirit…

They have 9mm, .357mag, 38 specials, .22, 38 +p, 45’s in about three flavors. They sell all the stuff you mentioned, after all, this is Virginia, but I don’t think you can walk in off the street and rent everything. They have one in the case that looks like you could bring down a Metro Bus with it. I don’t think you can rent that one, though.

For me, I am a member, and rent counts toward purchase, if I want to try out something with an eye to buy.

The only one I ever even thought about was a laser equiped 38 J frame. But they have trouble keeping that one in stock.
