Tom Seaver, Davey Johnson, and I’m drawing a blank on guy #3.
Don Zimmer (did he coach 3rd for the Sox?), Mookie Wilson, Dwight Gooden, and Roger Clemens. Does Mel Stottlemyre count, since he technically won’t be there? And you forgot Lee Mazzilli!
You used to post all those great trivia questions on alt.sports.baseball.ny-yankees, right? I used to really like those.
Zimmer was coaching third for the Bosox in the 1975 Series. I think he took over as manager in 1976 or 1977. He was definitely managing Boston in 1978.
Wasn’t Harrelson the Mets’ 3rd Base coach in 1986?
I used to go there a lot until the trolls drove me away. I think I remember you now… Remember me? I went by my actual name - Brian O’Neill.
I am still active at the Giants Usenet group, however…

Now then, a friend of mine says that he thinks the Red Sox didn’t have Seaver on their active roster for the World Series. This would change the first question as worded, wouldn’t it?
*I HAVE BEEN SMOKE-FREE FOR:
Six months, one week, three days, 18 hours, 17 minutes and 21 seconds.
7750 cigarettes not smoked, saving $968.81.
Extra life with Drain Bead: 3 weeks, 5 days, 21 hours, 50 minutes.
This is an easy one now, but in a few years you might be able to win some change.
Who is the only peron in uniform for this Subway Series who played in the last one in 1956?
Of course, it’s the venerable Don Zimmer!
Dude was also on the opening roster of the expansion Mets as well…
Here’s one that’s been making the rounds: Name the only two players to play for all four teams with New York connections: Yankees, Mets, Giants and Dodgers?

Satan: yes, I remember you, but I’m not the UrbanShocker you’re thinking of. I only read the NG, I don’t post to it. (The UrbanShocker you know, incidentally, plays A-ball for the Pittsburgh Pirates.)
The second Yankee/Met/Dodger/Giant is Jose Vizcaino, although Zimmer also qualifies if you want to count coaching experience.
I think this question needs to be rephrased because it doesn’t make much sense in its present form.
Do you mean players (and not bat boys or other stupid stuff like that) for the 1962 Mets who went on to play for the Mets in their 4 pennant winning seasons?
In any one of their pennant winning seasons, yes. Actually on the field and playing for both the 1962 Mets and another Mets team that won the pennant. No tricks.
I knew Ed Kranepool (your easy one), but not anyone else. One was especially hard because even though he played for the Mets in 73, he didn’t finish the year with them.
Anyway, here’s the results of my hard work.
1962 Mets who were no longer in the majors by 1969.
Marv Throneberry
Charlie Neal
Felix Mantilla
Rod Kanehl
Frank Thomas
Richie Ashburn
Elio Chacon
Joe Christopher
Gene Woodling
Sammy Taylor
Choo Choo Coleman
Gil Hodges
Cliff Cook
Gus Bell
Ed Bouchee
Joe Pignatano
Sammy Drake
Don Zimmer
Rick Herrscher
Hobie Landrith
Harry Chiti
Jim Marshall
Bobby Gene Smith
John Demerit
Joe Ginsberg
Roger Craig
Jay Hook
Craig Anderson
Bob Moorhead
Ray Daviault
Willard Hunter
Ken Mackenzie
Vinegar Bend Mizell
Sherman Jones
Herb Moford
Dave Hillman
Larry Foss
Bob (lefty) Miller
Of the players who were still active in 1969, here’s who played where in 69 and 73.
Did not play for Mets in pennant years
Chris Cannizzaro 69 SD 73 LA
Jim Hickman 69 Cubs 73 Cubs
Galen Cisco 69 Royals
Did play for Mets in pennant years
Ed Kranepool 69 Mets 73 Mets
Al Jackson 69 Mets
Bob (righty) Miller 69 Twins 73 Tigers, Mets, Padres
Neither Jackson nor Miller played in the postseason for the Mets those years, BTW. Jackson played in 9 games early in 1969 before he was traded away. Miller appeared in only 1 game for the Mets in 1973, though he was on the roster in 1974. I believe he was acquired too late to make the postseason roster (the listing you used was alphabetical, not chronological).

You’re correct, Bob. Unless I’m figuring wrong, Stengel is actually the only person in Major League Baseball to wear the uniforms of the Dodgers, Giants, Yankees and Mets when those teams were in New York.
A number of guys were associated with both the NY Giants and the Brooklyn Dodgers (Maglie and Durocher spring to mind immediately; I’m sure there are others). But a lot of them were out of the majors by 1962, and of course, players such as Strawberry were associated with the West Coast Giants or Dodgers as well as the Mets and Yankees. Stengel, AFAIK, was unique in his association with all four New York teams when they were in New York.
[slight hijack] Who is the only player to play on the Boston Braves, the Milwaukee Braves and the Atlanta Braves? [end slight hijack]
