MG sets land speed record!

The Winter 2003-2004 issue of British Motoring (this issue is not yet online) reports:

With the New Beetle and the New Mini Cooper S being so popular, isn’t it about time that MGs again became available in the U.S.?

Safety Fast!

There’s just something wrong about a station wagon, even if it is an MG, setting speed records. Though, I guess the speed is needed to get the kiddos to the various after-school soccer, dance and piano lessons on time.

On the contrary! Station wagons make great sleepers. No one ever suspects that beneath that homely and family-oriented exterior, lies the heart of a freaking monster.

  1. The late '90s Volvo 850 Turbo (and Volvo AND a wagon; had it’s own race series dedicated to it)
  2. The Subaru WRX wagon (Mustang-eater extraordinaire)
  3. My dad’s old Impala (despite the fact that it weighed about as much as our house at the time, the 454 under the hood did a lot to counteract that. Besides, the silver paint job made it faster!)

Golly, I’d just be happy to get my 95hp '66 MGB out of restoration!

For sure. Those are great little cars, and a whole lot of fun. When it does come out, post some pics! And enjoy!
