There was a guy named edwino who posted here, oh, a dozen or so years ago. He used to be quite active in the chat room, too. He was doing grad school working with fruit flies. I won’t say he inspired me to do what I’m doing, but he did answer some questions for me and offer some advice. And now I’m in grad school, working with fruit flies. He might be interested in knowing that. More likely, he’s completely forgotten about all of this. On the other hand, maybe he can get me a job…

According to her profile Kalhoun hasn’t been around since 08-02-2010 and she could always be counted on for a laugh or at least something skewed away from the mundane and trivial. Anybody know her status these days?

I just got a short but nice note from her. She’s fine.

IRC is where the old one was. The idea of starting it back up gets proposed every couple of years or so, but it never takes off.

She may be interested to know that, the other night, one of the hosts on TCM was plugging one of her books. I can’t remember which book, but it was definitely our Eve who was the author.

I have her book on John Gilbert, and she signed it for me! ** Eve** was gracious enough to enscribe it for me, when I bought it and sent it to her. And Eve, I did make that donation to the local animal shelter, like I said I would!

Yeah, I miss Shot From Guns, too, and Freudian Slit. I think Phlosphr might have decided not to come back after his thread about home birth blew up.

And I miss Eve a lot, though I understand why she left. She reminded me so much of my now-deceased aunt, who was cool and clever and kind and always well-mannered and well-dressed. I felt a connection to my aunt through her, and I miss that, too.
