Mic jack not working on the front of my PC case

I recently built a new system with a Gigabyte GA-7VT600 motherboard and a Skyhawk ALP4350UA-BKSLQWN case.

Everything is fine except the mic jack on the front audio panel doesn’t work. I guessing it’s because there is one less connector on the case than there is pins on the motherboard for front audio. Here’s how everything is connected (pin labels are on the left and case wires are on the right):

MIC = MIC DATA
GND = GND
REF = (no corresponding connector on case)
POWER = MIC VCC
Front Audio ® = Front Audio ®
Rear Audio ® = Rear Audio ®
Reserved = (nothing connected to this pin)
Front Audio (L) = Front Audio (L)
Rear Audio (L) = Rear Audio (L)

The head phones work but the mic jack doesn’t. I’m guessing the REF pin is the culprit. The rear mic jack works. And, there is an advanced setting in the volume control that lets you switch between mic 1 and mic 2, but this makes no difference.

So, is there anyway to make it work? If not, should I disconnect it all together? I don’t need headphone jack. I like the one on my speakers better. I really don’t even need that mic jack. It just urks me that it doesn’t work. Any insight would be much appreciated.

What soundcard are you talking about ?
I assume some sort which has a separate breakout box
which goes in the front of your case eg, the soundblaster
live platinum, or audigy ?

The sound is integrated into the motherboard. So, the pins I’m referring to are also on the motherboard. The front audio panel is part of the case/chassis itself. It only consists of a headphone and mic jack.

The specs for the motherboard can be found here. There aren’t any specs for the case online. Not that I can find anyway.
