I just set out some old-school snaptraps. (I hurt my fingers setting them.)
Maybe they will work.
The new “tin cat” trap won’t arrive until Monday, earliest.

Both traps caught one, in less than 12 hours.

Something’s wrong.
Effing chipmunks. Oh, yes, aren’t they cute, especially when they tease the dog all summer. However, one has apparently moved into the garage. The mister has been trying all kinds of things for at least a month, but no deader yet.
I noticed that my car’s windshield wiper fluid wasn’t working, but paid it no mind until we started getting a little weather. And then I noticed that it squirted out of the wheel well when pulling the lever. Hmm, loose hose? Took it in and no, “some rodent” had chewed it up. I hope it doesn’t go for something dangerous or more expensive next.
Honestly, nothing beats old fashioned snap traps. You can throw them away if you’re squeamish, or you can keep reusing them until one day it snaps and flings itself and the mouse a mile away as it comes apart like the Challenger. And they’re so damn cheap.
Also, as you’re learned, you never have one mouse. Generally, once I kill one, I end up with at least a total of 4 in the following week. Once you’ve “got” them all, keep a few set somewhere out of the way and just check them from time to time.
We are currently dealing with a mouse problem.
It started when we were having pizza one night, and Mr. S took the oven mitts out of the drawer. (Thank God; removing the pizza from the oven is usually my job.) He put his hand in one and met with resistance, some sort of soft wadding. Further investigation revealed . . . A NEST OF LIVE BABY MICE!!! He shook the damned pink things (STILL ALIVE) onto the counter. Uggghhhhh . . . The mousies got an all-expenses paid tour of our septic tank via Mr. Toilet.
Blurgh. I am SOOOO glad it wasn’t MY hand that went in there.
And another in a snal trap.
6 in a one bedroom.
Handyman coming Saturday. More holes to close, & a new light fixture, over the sink.
The new Tin Cat arrived today, & is set up in the kitchen.
I have yet to fiddle with the new D-Con bait stations, cause I’m tired.
