Michael Crystal, new publisher and COO of The Reader

Just wondering if the recent changes at the top have anything to do with the current changes of this board.

Not trying to cause any controversy, but it’s not uncommon for a new chief to come in and try to make some sudden and immediate changes to increase revenue, streamline costs and even branch out the product. (Or, as it appears that he won’t be taking over officially until April, if the company has decided to streamline on its own before his tenure begins, but still as a result of management change…)

So, if anyone in “the organization” can tell me if the corporate change has anything to do with our own little change, I’d be most grateful. Also, will there be any other changes (immediate or long-term) to The Reader, The Straight Dope, etc.?

Thanks much,
leander

The changes to the Message Board have been under discussion for at least a year, and the specifics of the approach have been pretty much set for at least four months, so I don’t think there’s a relationship.

And I guarantee you that this sort of minor issue ISN’T the sort of change a new boss tries to make.

Yeah, what does HE care about teenagers!?

You did say “minor.”
