Michael Jackson never got it. On a different note, neither Uri Geller.

Now the media whores will be camping out in my town. I am not at all happy about this. The big press conference was held at the Earl Warren Showgrounds which is just a couple of miles from my house. I hope they change the venue for the trial and it is far, far away. If it’s not, good fucking luck with a Santa Barbara jury, Mikey, this area is crawling with celebrities and we don’t give a fuck one way or the other. Star power doesn’t count for shit in these parts.

I’m sorry, but any parent who would leave his or her kid alone with Jackson is looking for a payday. And should be hit hard about the face and neck.

I wonder if the victim is his OWN kid?

That was about ten years ago. I remember Liz telling Baba Wawa, “Michael Jackson is the least weird person I know,” and I thought, “What the hell kind of recommendation is that? You’re Elizabeth Taylor!” I mean, her other friends are Liza Minnelli, Van Johnson, Mickey Rooney and Shirley MacLaine!

Until more facts are clear, I’m not going to assume that he is guilty. There is always the possibility that someone sees this as a way to win the lottery.

There is also the possibility that he is guilty as hell. We will just have to wait until he gets his day in court, I suppose.

Last time-wasn’t the victim receiving death threats and a lot of harassment?

I was lead to believe that was why charges were dropped.

Rabid Child had it right. Liz reportedly disassociated herself from The Gloved One after the baby-dangling incident of 19 November 2002.

I wonder if Kobe is happy about this.

No. It was because the victim refused to cooperate. No testimony = No case for the prosecution. Part of the settlement agreement was that neither side could discuss it. The law was changed because of the case.

Haj

What would that have to do with anything?

That he was so harassed for going through with it, that they just said fuck it, we’ll settle.

I have a friend who is a parole officer. Her comment about this settlement was

World Eater If there is no physical evidence, then without eyewitness testomony there is NO case.
You can’t convict on “We think Jacko is wacko”

Oh and I nominate this for the funniest comment in an OP link.

Uri Geller lives quite near to me, he a foo.

Sure.

My understanding is that you can’t “settle” a criminal case in the sense of just dropping the charges. Jacko paid the kid a huge sum of money, and in return they refused to testify and help the prosecution, effectively killing the case.

Hey, I’m telepathetic. Does that help?

I just want to know how Jacko ends up with different kids, per situations like this? I mean, they guy/gal/it’s had a string of allegations relating to lewd conduct. Who in their right mind would send their kid over to “Jacko’s House”? Is there something I’m missing?

Tripler
Maybe I’ve got a little too much common sense. . .

I have to ask-why would they bring their own toilets? Are they afraid of tampering with evidence from his?

Because to search a place the size of Neverland you would need a whole heap of cops and other assorted experts and the investigation would lack a little…em…decorum if you had a constant stream of cops filing in and out of the accused’s bathroom all day to take a dump.

The court document containing the allegations made by the first kid are on the Smoking Gun website:

I tell you another guy who washed his hands of Michael Jackson - and he was far more important than so-called “friends” - he was the guy who MADE Michael Jackson the star that he was (as in past tense).

Namely, one Mr Quincy Jones. I recall reading an interview in an edition of Vanity Fair with Quincy Jones about 3 years ago, and he was none too impressed with what had become of Michael Jackson. This was before Jacko’s last album came out, the huge flop - remember that? And Quincy made it very clear that no amount of money could persuade him to work with Jackson ever again. He quite openly stated that he couldn’t stand the man’s manipulative narcissistic ways, and most importantly, had nothing but contempt for Jackson’s wholly inappropriate fascination with the company of children.

I believe Quincy Jones referred to Jackson as “profoundly mentally unhealthy” and it was clear that Mr Jones didn’t like Jacko one little bit. And the other thing I remember about the interview was that Quincy slammed Jackson for never once ever, like NEVER, has Jackson ever given credit to any of the musicians who have worked on any of Jackson’s albums. I got the impression that Quincy Jones is a musician’s musician and Jackson looks upon the musos who worked on his albums all these years as merely expendable hired hands.

And if the above is true, we also know the parents in the first case have plenty of money…

According to Foxnews.com:

**This is the second child molestation accusation brought against the pop singer in the past decade. The earlier charge, in 1993, was dropped when the 13-year-old boy refused to testify; a $20 million settlement was reached the following year instead.

Since then — and because of that case specifically — the law in California has changed regarding young victims of sexual abuse. Now they can be forced to testify. In this case, the victim is cooperating with authorities, according to Sneddon.**

Looks as if Michael has made his own bed, as it were.
