Michael Moore is a Dishonest Hack

(Thread posted for Bricker, so he won’t have to keep hijacking this thread)

I’ve only seen one Michael Moore movie- Bowling for Columbine. I really only remember one thing from it- Canadians, for some reason, don’t lock their doors. Also, Moore totally ambushed Charlton Heston- I remember feeling uncomfortable watching that part.

So here we go: Michael Moore is a dishonest hack. He’s occasionally funny, and I think he can sometimes bring up good points, but I don’t recall him trying to get the NRA shut down. But then, my memory’s not what it used to be, I may be forgetting something.

There… I feel much better.

Anyone else want to absolve themselves of Liberal Hypocrisy?

I agree.

But I’m willing to bet you won’t get anywhere near the number of posts and the level of vitriol in this thread against Moore than we got against O’Keefe.

O’Keefe and Moore are both lying hacks who do more harm than good to the political process.

The Moore hate he gets, the Moore he must be doing something right, imho.

O’Keefe is clearly a victim of the liberal media.

Whine, whine, bitch, fucking whine. Jesus. Are you never happy?

The only reason the other thread has so many posts is because you’re trying to defend O’Keefe on whatever grounds you possibly can. If everyone who posts to this thread feels that, yep, Moore’s a hack, there’s nothing to discuss and it’ll die pretty fast, which would somehow feed your stupid persecution complex. Now, if someone sets out to prove that Moore is not at all a hack and in fact much of what he says is “substantially true” despite the dishonesty, and there are people invested in proving otherwise (like you seem to be in the O’Keefe thread, unless of course that was just a rhetorical attempt to gain points), I wouldn’t be surprised if it drags on for 300 posts too.

It’s worth pointing out that over half the posts in the O’Keefe thread come from all of seven people engaged in steady argument. The length of a thread has absolutely no bearing on the content. If it were, then everyone on the board would clearly have to be a World of Warcraft fanatic, because that thread in the Game Room is the largest thread in board history. And yet, out of the nearly 12,000 posts to that thread, two-thirds of it are from all of 10 people who just like talking to each other.

At some point, even though I hate Michael Moore and wish he could somehow be carved up and distributed to supply enough meat for the entire nation of Sudan for a few months, I’m also willing to acknowledge that Moore just makes stupid-as-shit movies and O’Keefe actually crossed the line to actively and illegally interfering with his political opponents.

Bricker’s only happy when he can troll the board. Way back when, we had a MASSIVE Michael Moore Thread. I know, because I was all over it, making dozens and dozens of posts.

Ah, yes, the classic definition of a troll: someone who disagrees with me.

You’re such a troll.

ivan astikov: troll.

John Mace disagrees with me. He’s not a troll. Oakminster disagrees with me. He’s not a troll.

You, in fact, agree with me (about Michael Moore). And yet, you’re still a troll.

Objection overruled, counselor.

OK, your point is a valid one. The number of posts is not a function of agreement or disagreement with the premise, but with the presence of motivated debaters on the topic.

And, too, the level of vitriol is correlated with that as well.

So I withdraw that observation.

Bricker: atheist-baiting, legalese-bullshitting troll.

See how easy that was?

I’ll just say this: I watched more of Expelled than I have of any Michael Moore flick. That’s not because it was any more honest or accurate, but because I didn’t want to punch Stein in the face as much.

I dunno. I think Michael Moore makes some very good points. Take him for what he’s worth though. He’s not a journalist and only provides HIS side of any story, but he’s entertaining.

But…Clinton got a blow job!

Listen, Trolly Trollerson: you are, as far as I’m concerned, the Mayor of Trolltown. And it’s in the state of North Trollin, where CandidGamera is the governor.

So … he’s not a dishonest hack?

I appreciate it.

And for the record, I don’t really give a damn about Moore either. I can see enough misleading footage on basic cable without shelling out movie ticket prices for it. :stuck_out_tongue:

You’re very au fait with troll nomenclature — do you have a publication I could subscribe to, in order to discover more about your knowledge on this fascinating subject?

Manipulative one-sided storyteller perhaps, but I’d like a solid example of Moore’s dishonesty. Bonus points if the dishonesty was pointed out by a court or independent board/panel.
ETA: Not a particular fan of Moore’s films, although his very early work was enthusiastically done.
