Michelle Bachman (R, Batshit)

You’re just happy there’s at least one female nutbar wingnut who’s NOT from Alaska…

Yes it does. It’s called fear, just old fashioned fear. They’re afraid of what they could do if they were disrespectful.

I wonder what she thinks will happen in 40 years to break the evil Democratic power-hold on the US. She better not be counting on The 2nd Coming, that Jesus guy was quite the lefty, what with instructing folks to give all their money to the poor and turning the other cheek.

I for one commend Mrs. Bachman for her brave stance on preserving our nations rich people for future generations. I look forward to her congressional pressure to put them on the Endangered Species list.

Can we put them all on a Rich People Preserve and plunder their bank accounts?

Occasional controlled hunts will still be needed to thin the herds.

Careful what you ask for. That plan’s so screwy it might just work.

I object. I think the correct form is “Michelle Bachman (Batshit, Minn-6)”.

J. D. Fortune fans may object to that usage also.

Oh me, for a minute there I was confusing Michelle Bachman and Michelle Malkin and was all fired up to post this eye-popping picture. But, damn, the thread’s about the loonball from Minnesota, so I guess I won’t.

I wish Minnesota would hurry up and seat Franken so that he can drive Bachman and her fans crazy calling her on her shit. It’s gotta be hard for him to keep his mouth shut.

I know I’m the only conservative left here. I kind of feel like Will Smith in “I Am Legend…” (which I guess makes you liberal types the vampires, but that’s besides the point.)

Anyhow, not that you need to do things to please me, but I much prefer the format where someone shows that something is wrong and then calls it “batshit.” Just calling it batshit without showing why it’s false is kind of assumptive, imo.

Now, Obama was in fact a community organizer at one point, so calling him a deprecatory name based on that doesn’t really qualify as “batshit,” more like immature. And, if there is justice in the world no Democrat posting here may ever complain about a stupid name a Republican calls a Democratic President. By my calculations Republicans need to say “Obamalama,” or “Obamination” 9,337, 432 times to make for all the “Shrubs” and “Repugnicans” over the last 8 years.
Next, that thing with Obama seemingly want to take over the census certainly seemed problematic to me. I can’t imagine a Democrat feeling good about it if W had tried. So, that’s not really batshit, either. Or, maybe I misunderstand.
I don’t think ACORN oughtta be getting money as part of a stimulus package.
Or maybe, like Will Smith, being the last of my kind has driven me a little batshit and I’m too be pitied for not getting it.

Perhaps, but I hope the bright spotlight of sanity continues to expose both of them for the next eight years.

The linked article says ACORN isn’t mentioned in the stimulus bill at all.

It’s also not under federal indictment.

Yeah. Here’s the skinny:

Did you understand this part:

Do you also think that the “takeover” of the Census Bureau will allow Obama to re-draw congressional district lines? Seriously? Do you really think that this is a reasonable and sane position to take?

So do you think the following quote from Bachman is accurate:

The bill gives ACORN $5 billion? Really? Do you think that Bachman was correct? Cite?

How about: Money that was previously limited to state and local governments, will now be available to non-profit entities. That means groups like ACORN would be eligible for a portion of the funds. Do you understand the meaning of the word eligible? Would you be willing to screw over all non-profits because you don’t like ACORN?

Do you seriously think that Bachman was in any way reasonable or accurate in her comments?

The U.S. Census has historically and egregiously undercounted the poor. See here and here. Correcting that is a good thing, and by partisan-neutral civic standards – but not the thing Bush would have done with it, I’ll hazard.

Whyever not, if they have appropriate programs in place, apply for funding on the same basis as other nonprofits, and qualify for funding under the rules? (None of which has happened yet.)

Its not the “undistributed middle” fallacy. Its the “lying through your teeth” fallacy.

Did you understand this part:

I think it’s a mistake. It’s been a while since high school civics, but IIRC the census determines the number of senate seats or electoral votes and some shit like that which it makes it politically sensitive.

No. But I think it’s no more stupid than the average anti-Republican misinformation bullshit of the week we’ve endured for the last 8 years. Apparently, ACORN will be eligible for some of those funds. A wildly exagerrated claim. Not saying it’s true, just that it’s not batshit. If she can make lies half-truths and exaggerations stick to fulfill her political agenda and ideology, how is that batshit? Seems to me like it’s basically SOP.

I’m just not really seeing it as an economic stimulus.

If her goal is to make Democrats look bad, her stance and actions seem to me to be entirely reasonable. Responsible and accurate statements from politicians don’t exactly seem normal either.

So, I see nothing particularly abnormal or “batshit” about these particular lies and exagerations.

That’s just the same cite twice. Whether it’s accurate or not doesn’t matter. I agree that the census should be accurate and impartial.

Not that I don’t trust Obama, but I would like it to be independent from the executive branch for this reason, as it was designed to be.

It’s still hilarious, and sad, and pathetic that ACORN has become a voodoo word on the right - evoke it and nutjobs will back away in horror while making the sign of the cross - when the organization didn’t do anything wrong at all. In fact, they did everything they should have done. They cross-checked the information handed in to them, then reported the inaccuracies/falsehoods that were found, just as the law requires (considering that it’s against the law to throw away voter registrations). They CROSS-CHECKED the information for inaccuracies and falsehoods, then REPORTED those problems, and fired the lazy field workers who turned them in. They did everything right, within the law and common decency, and yet they were vilified and are still being vilified, because Republicans are fucking asshole scum who lie and lie and lie and don’t give a shit whether innocent and good-hearted organizations who do good work are tarred and feathered and ruined in the process. And the ones who know the truth but don’t speak up for ACORN are even scummier assholes.
