I honestly have never heard of Club for Growth. I’m skeptical that it has received the level of vilification that ACORN has, and for as little reason. In perusing its wikipedia page, the only criticism I see of CFG is from Mike Huckabee, hardly a poster boy for the left, who has called it the “Club for Greed.” Not trying to pull a “no true Scotsman” argument on you, but I’m not sure they’re comparable.
See, I’m not seeing batshit as a commentary on her ideas, but instead on herself. She has been entertaining and dismaying Minnesotans for years with her batshit antics (hiding in the bushes at a gay rights rally is possibly my personal favorite) and therefore has a higher bar set for credibility with anything else she does than someone without a batshit track record.
For reference, the following people have proven themselves to be batshit in my opinion and therefore the premise is established:

Fred Phelps
This list is not exhaustive and I’m likely to append it. Some of these people are more batshit (Phelps) than others. I share some of these people’s beliefs in some fashion, and others seem to come from an alternate reality. But they all have managed to ping my batshit meter.
Yeah, pretty much. My initial OP held her innocent of mortal turpitude due to batshittity, and snarkly reflects my actual opinion, in the sense of “po’ thing just don’t know any better.” Friend Scylla chose to defend her on the grounds of moral turpitude and lying sackity being morally better.
Btw, my husband pointed out that fecal matter should not, in fact, be honored and celebrated, but is, in fact, vile, stinky and nasty stuff. It’s useful in compost, and feels good coming out after constipation, but celebrating that is a bit much.

FTR: I don’t think Bill Clinton was a bad Presdent. He wasn’t great, but he was pretty good all things considered. Maybe he would have been great had circumstances called for it, but they didn’t. I also think he got a raw deal on Whitewater.
As a man though, I have no respect for him. I don’t understand how you cheat on your wife. It’s not just about respect for her, but for yourself and your children. I’ve been in control of my sexual impulses since I was 18 years old. I wouldn’t sell my marriage, my integrity, I wouldn’t sell out my children for a quick tittillation. Maybe I have a price, but its higher than that. But, it’s hard to respect a man who sells himself that cheaply.
If I loved another and wanted to leave my wife, I would have enough respect for her to tell her I was leaving first. I would have enough respect for my children and myself to tell her first. I would have enough respect for the new woman I loved not to sneak around with her.
I know better than to sleep with an intern. I understand that it’s an abuse of authority to take sexual advantage of a person over whom I exercise power.
I know enough about lying to know that it’s rarely the deed itself that gets you, it’s the cover-up.
I think you can reduce Christianity to the Golden Rule about doing unto others. I believe he reduced himself to the status of dissembling hypocrite. So, I think he’s pretty common and contemptible. I think what was special about Monica Lewinsky is that that’s the one he got caught with. I think there has been quite a few others.
I don’t think someone who is that faithless and dishonest should be President, or should be admired. I think you should have character. I’m surprised that someone without character or integrity managed to do a decent job. But then again, events weren’t all that challenging and he really didn’t do much, did he?
I recall an editorial cartoon from the Clinton years: Homeowner says to pollster: “Well, I think the lousy, lying, cheating, womanizing, pot-puffing draft-dodger is doing a good job.”
Better to be well-governed by sinners than misgoverned by saints.
I also hold to strict standards of sexual behavior, though some unkind persons have suggested it is more a matter of popular demand.
