Michelle Obama's Brother and SIL sue private school their sons attended

Craig and Kelly Robinson are suing the University School of Milwaukee over inclusiveness and racial bias in the treatment of their two sons while attending the school. After the parents raised such issues with faculty and administration the boys were individually expelled/dismissed from the school.

Apparently the parents felt that racism was persistent in assignments as well as there was a different treatment of children that attended classes in person vs. virtually.

The school responded to the lawsuit with the following statement:

“We cannot and will not tolerate persistently disrespectful, bullying, or harassing behavior directed at our devoted and hardworking teachers and administrators. Such conduct that makes faculty feel unsafe not only violates our Common Trust pledge and Parent-School Partnership, but also interferes with USM’s operations and precludes a positive and constructive working relationship between the school and the families we proudly serve. When such parental conduct threatens the educational environment we have created, we have no choice but to take action.”

It sounds like the school had less issue with the kids, but how the parents were approaching and communicating with the faculty and staff which resulted in the kids expulsion. I wonder if there was some name throwing around such as “do you know who we are…who our family is?”

(Not that Craig Robinson)

Why the apostrophe in Michelle Obama’s name?

They’re not Irish?

Hey, my daughters went there decades ago. It was quite diverse on all levels then, to the approval of my girls who were/are pretty left. Though they did think some of the kids from wealthy families were a bit over the top. Names that were big in the Midwest abounded.

Just asking questions, are you? No sense in getting the details when you can make them up.

There does not seem to be enough information in the OP to decide. It could be that they crossed a line, or it could be the usual victim culture stuff where those who are told they are being consider that a threat.

I don’t know why the OP seems to assume the former.

Completely unwarranted assumption in the absence of facts. At this point it is “they said – they said” until more facts come out.

Now that the school has publicly accused them of bullying and harassing behavior, they’d better have something solid to back that up.

Jesus! I said “I wonder”…which is not the same as assuming, nor is it making up details.

:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Sorry, did we jump to conclusions? I wonder where we ever got that from?

It’s the exact definition of “just asking questions,” and it’s not a highly-regarded rhetorical device.

So, if I said “I wonder if Omar_Little is a paid shill for the school” that wouldn’t be making assumptions or making up details?

I don’t actually believe this–it is just an illustration of why “I wonder” lines are not immune to such accusations. Someone could say that and they would 100% be out of line for doing so.
