Hi all,
The problem actually isn’t that the microphone itself won’t work. It’s that it sounds exactly like it’s not working, because I can’t figure out how to get it to go through the speakers without horrible earsplitting feedback. Here’s exactly what happens on a Dell running Windows 7:
Control panel, audio devices, recording, desktop microphone. The Lifecam shows up and shows the microphone as working. The message says: “You can listen to a portable music player or other device through this Desktop Microphone Jack. If you connect a microphone, you may hear feedback.” There is a box to check in front of “Listen to this device.” ?Dropdown box says: Playback through this device: Either default playback device or speakers. Both have the same result—I can barely hear my voice through the speakers with several seconds’ delay, and there is nothing but loud feedback. There has GOT to be another way to connect so that I can hear my own voice without feedback. I also don’t know what the person on the other end would be hearing. The reason I got the webcam is desperately important—PLEASE HELP if anyone has any information on this!!!
