Microsoft Edge has left the building

My new laptop did an update, and now Edge is gone. The icons are there, but it won’t open. Can anyone give me a not super technical reason and fix?

Can you open it from the program list when you press the Windows key? If so, delete the icon, then insert your own shortcut on the desktop, choosing the Edge icon for display.

Thanks, but no, the list is there, but nothing happens.

Just download it again:

But if you have no browser, how do you download a browser? [ Twilight zone music ]

Thanks, I do have chrome

So, what’s the problem, then? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

The only thing I use Edge for is testing a website build in multiple browsers.

Download Firefox as a backup browser and you’re all good (Firefox is also less snoopy than Google-owned Chrome).

Another approach would be just to undo the update.

Some people just like living on the Edge.

 :+1:

Not on it but Close to the Edge.

You mean, like Bono?

Probably a dumb question, but did you restart it? Even if it restarted for the update restart it again.

If it’s still not working see if the executable still exists. Go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application" and see if “msedge.exe” is there. Double-click it and see if it comes up.

TY, all.
