Microsoft kills its search engine for books - Smart move or lack of vision?

Microsoft kills books search engine because books aren’t fun

Microsoft (IMO) is beginning to look like a technological also ran compared to Google re harnessing the web. Is shutting down this (currently) non-money making service smart or not?

Sounds like someone ran the numbers and decided that MS was going to be throwing good money after bad in something that was going to be a losing proposition and they just killed it early.

I’m wondering if the boys got together and decided to demarcate what google does and what MS does and avoid duplication.

Some post Bill rationalization of the brand.
