Microsoft Updates won't give up

It seems to have insisted I install…

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1

…even after I “hid” it.

But, when I finally relented, the installation failed.

Isn’t this software for computer-savvy people, and
not for the converse?

One encouraging thought. Microsoft says I can get rid of
it via Control Panel Add & Remove.

Just checked. Here’s what I’ve got:

MS .NET FrameWork 1.1 (No KB’s specified.)
" " " 1.1 HotFix (KB928368)
" " " 2.0 SP1 185MB
" " " 3.0 58.07MB

So, it would seem I have part of the 3.0 SP, but not the full load.

Do you think I can safely delete all this?

If I don’t respond quickly to your posts, it means I left for a couple of appointments, but I certainly will when upon returning.

You don’t need the framework per-se BUT you might get some sort of app someday that requires you have it.

You can safely delete all three. If you want, or if it still bugs you after you delete, try going directly to Windows Update and getting .net 3.

OK. I’ll delete now, worry later. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thsnk you, Zipper.

I was able to delete .Net 1.1 - with appropriate warnings, but not NET 2.0. Other programs were using it, said the software.

I didn’t even try deleting 3.0.

I’ll let sleeping dogs lie.
