Mid-Atlantic Dopers

Northern Virginia here.

Still living in Maryland till they decide to stop renewing my visa. Just north of DC now, near Silver Spring.

Still here in West Philadelphia. Don’t drive, though.

Jersey here; but anything but Philly is a long haul for me. I’ve made two events beyond Philly I guess. I won’t be repeating Gettysburg but not because of the Dopers, just because of the drive. I did have good time.

I think the Jersey Dopefests are usually too far for most beyond Philly. I plan to keep hosting at least one each spring and I would like to organize a small Restaurant or Bar type get together a little further North in Jersey. I need to really get that going if it is going to happen. Would something similar in the Trenton area be of interest to any other Mid-Atlantic Dopers?

I am glad you started this GingerOfTheNorth. It is a great idea. Hopefully they turn back on the group function, I think that is ideal for what you are trying to accomplish with this thread.

Odd question, what region is New York considered part of? I always thought it was a Mid-Atlantic state rather than New England.

Yeah, I remember you!! You were one of the first 3 Dopers to visit my home! How the heck ya been??

Richmond VA

When I lived in NY State, we considered ourselves our own region. We spent so much time telling folks that there is more to New York than just the city we developed our own identity.

Now I’m in Delaware. Thoroughly mid-Atlantic.

Delaware does not exist. As far as I’m concerned, you live in Elkton. :stuck_out_tongue:

I am in Frederick, which might be considered “centrally located.” Or not. I hope to be flying out about 15 November.

Delaware DOES TOO exist. It has a decent travel place and a decent truck stop, which puts it a bit above New Jersey.

And a decent beach…I have a childhood loyalty to Rehoboth. (We used to vacation there when I was a kid)

And Google maps has now gotten fixes so that you don’t get directions to some place in Germany when you really just want to go to Delaware!

Northern VA here (the Zappa/Knig family).

I live out in the boonies in PA - north of Philadelphia

Word up from sunny SoWeVA.* I’d love to attend a DopeFest if one ever happened within, say, three hours of here, but D.C., Charlotte, Maryland and Gettysburg seem to have all the fun. I’ve thought about organizing a Roanoke 'fest – plently of good places in town to do it – but I don’t know what kind of attendance I’d get.

I still plan to set one up in upstate New York at some point, but that’s neither here nor there. Or rather, it’s not here, but it IS there…or it will be, if it ever happens. Bah.

*We don’t really call it that, but we should.

Resolved: Delaware does not exist.

Careful there, we have Cape May and AC and many other fine beaches. We are much closer to the major destination City without having to live there. We also have far better Italian food. Your state is pretty much just a toll booth on the way to better places. No one actually goes to Delaware do they?
ETA: I forgot to include this guy

Scuba_Ben lives in Virginia, not this so-called Delaware.

THEN WHERE THE HELL AM I?

Fortunately I only work in a place that does not exist. I live in Philadelphia.

I am in Damascus, MD.

Don’t visit the SDMB as much as I used to.

The Jersey Shore, including Cape May and Atlantic City, are not part of New Jersey. New Jersey consists of two north-south-ish toll roads; everything east of the Garden State Parkway is a separate entity.
