Dope The Halls VIII (Mid-Atlantic Holiday Party)

It’s that time of year again! Each December, my husband and I throw a big old party to celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah and whatever else we feel like celebrating. We put on a turkey dinner with all of the trimmings, and a few surprises here and there (schwetty balls, anyone?).

Everyone is welcome. For those of you who are new to the boards, yes, we do mean you as well. No, really. I mean it. Come to our house, chat a little, eat a lot, and meet some of your fellow Dopers. We’re really nice, I promise. Well, except for me, but everyone else is.

We live in Baltimore County, Maryland. We have sleeping space for one more (we have a guest coming in from out of town already) or more if you don’t mind the floor, and we are quite close to three hotels. We’re only a mile off of the beltway, if you’re a nervous driver.

We ask that everyone brings a little something to share. We have two children (14 and 4), both boys, so of course kids are welcome if you don’t mind your kids seeing adults indulge in a few cocktails (but nobody ever drinks to excess). Please don’t bring your animals with you, I’m allergic and I’ll just make them stay outside and everyone will think I’m a meanie for it.

The date is set, December 13th. We usually start at around 2:00 in the afternoon. Please post here to confirm your attendance, and email me at gingerofthenorth@hotmail.com for directions.

Yay, it’s Dope The Halls time again! We’ll be there, of course.

Does bringing back your empty jam jars count as ‘bringing something to share’?

I’ll be there this year. It’s been too long.
Adam

Believe it or not, it looks like I’ll actually be able to come this year. No more on-call ever again

Yay! AF, as to your other question, sorry, no. I think she’s left.

Damn, that’s too bad. She was very sweet and caring (she offered to bring me food!) when I was going through a very rough patch, and I never thanked her for it.

I’ll be there with the man!

I’d offer to bring Timbits but they’d be stale by then. I’ll find something else to bring, though.

Hmm. It’s a bit of a drive but I’ll check with my husband. Maybe we could make it a hotel overnighter.

As far as I know, we’re a yes. By that time, we should be able to leave the dog for six or seven hours at home without seriously worrying about the state of our floors.

Did you move since last year? PM or email me directions if so, please, thanks!

OH MY GOD

How many times are you going to ask me this? Buuuuumface. And I don’t really think it matters if I email you directions, you will still get lost.

There are a Ramada and Holiday Inn quite near (Loch Raven and Joppa Roads), as well as another place of - shall we say, less dimished style.

You mean there’s someone ELSE who can never find your house?

Come oooon! I haven’t gotten lost on the way to your house in something like two years now! And I could EASILY find the house if it’s the same house it was last year (since I found it without having to have my memory refreshed last year and the year before) but I remember you posting (either here or on LJ) about having moved this spring or summer and I don’t know where you were moving to… :stuck_out_tongue:

NO, we have not moved.

Well, good then. I don’t need directions.
So there!

You have the phone number, for when you get lost? Good.

Not happening, unfortunately. I have two finals after the 13th.

I think I’m likely going to have to pass this year. I’m supposed to be driving back to Montreal just about then, so there’s an off chance I’ll make a detour, but it seems unlikely.

I hope it’s as nice a party as it was when I attended!

After double checking my calendar, I can party hop: Dope the Halls north of Baltimore at 2. Dance night in Adelphi at 8.

That’s right in the middle of finals, so I have to send my regrets.
