Mid-winter cheer me up: Fav holiday/vacation sites ?

In the bleak mid-winter
Frosty wind made moan . . etc.

Up here in the northern Hem, it’s dark, cold, dark and colder. About time, then, to cheer ourselves up with an end of year roundup of getting-away-from-the-rat-race holiday/vacation web sites. Hurrah!

Here’s a few which have caught my eye in the past 12 months:
[ul]
[li]Freighter Voyages – they’ll be all the rage in a season or two, donchaknow. It’s also a way some celebrities choose to get away from the limelight for a while. Of course, its not something you’d want to do with kids in tow, but for adults who don’t mind being left to themselves, it might be just the ticket. Not as cheap as you might think, though.[/li]
[li]10 Volcanos – I’ve always wanted to tie in climbing these with an England cricket tour. Might seem odd but there’s always a break between Test Matches – or even before and after the Series – and I just fancy the idea of knocking one or two off this list each tour; thus vs. Zimbabwe climb Kilimanjaro, vs. West Indies Pico de Orizaba or Lanin, vs. Sri Lanka climb Fuji etc. Smashing![/li]
[li]This lot always have some eco-friendly, orf-the-beaten-track options for the adventurous. Nice site to browse.[/li]
[li]And lastly, no holiday/vacation site or sites I can link to because they break the rules but here’s a link to he official town site. However, if you put* Le Cap D’agde * into a search engine near you, you’ll get an idea of what happens in summer around this beautiful slice of Mediterranean France. Magnifique![/li][/ul]
So, what are your favourite sites, what are you looking forward to doing next year, and where ?
