Middle class teens becoming mall prostitutes. Growing problem or media BS?

OH NOES NOT THE MIDDLE CLASS!

I can feel the concerned women for america mobilizing as we speak.

Despite my many years spent searching, I have found these types of girls to be really rare.

(What - don’t look at me like that.)

I’s be more concerned about kids getting into drugs like heroin and having to do prostitution. These middle class ones hanging about in malls so they can get nice clothes can do it if they like, I really couldnt care less about them.

DreadCthulhu is correct, there must be 100 times as many street prostitutes as these middle class mall ones.

No cite, but I read an article once that used the expression “compensated dating”.

Compensated dating in Japan is called “enjo-kosai”, I think.

Nice way of putting it. Sounds a bit “sad” though doesnt it. I think I’d rather just pick up a hooker, at least I’d be being honest with myself.

I know women who did “compensated dating” of older men as teenagers twenty years ago. Not new.

So Stacy comes home with several hundred dollars worth of new clothes every week and mom and dad don’t notice? I’m calling bullshit on this one. Either Stacy is darn good, or her parents are not the what Newsweek would have you believe.

I also spend a lot of time at the Mall of America. While I’m sure this happens, and there are teenagers in flocks, some of them certainly dressed like hookers (but what else is new for teenagers, I did it, and it didn’t mean I was turning tricks - hooker fashion and teenager fashion have always had a lot in common), it isn’t exactly a “strip.”

No moneyman can win my love
It’s sweetness that I’m thinking of.
We always hang in a Buffalo Stance
We do the dive every time we dance
I’ll give you love baby not romance
I’ll make a move nothing left to chance
So don’t you get fresh with me

Eh, it’s silly season for magazines (mine does it too).

There is very little going on during August and that leads to this sort of thing.

It’s just Newsweek’s general alarmist brand of journalism. Ignore them and they’ll go away.

The more examples of women who are becoming sex workers by choice, not out of necessity or because of low self worth, the cleaner the industry becomes and the more likely we are to see sex work become more legal and less skanky. Safer.

Maybe now the middle class will have to address prostitution realistically rather than with denial and moralizing.

It’s got problems - I mean, we can’t have underaged people prostituting without parental consent. But maybe there’s something positive to the whole trend?

No, it couldn’t. I would correct that little problem, pronto.

I got half-way into the story and decided it was sensationist crap. Actually, what the hell does the mall have to do with it? The girl in the story has ads in the paper, fer crimminy sake! She’s a hooker. Big deal.
