Middle Earth FA63 D&D Game, Third Adventure, Ered Lithui Mystery Creature

I agree but with just one thing I would like to do first if you don’t mind.

Let me check out the lair tomorrow morning to make sure they have no captives from overnight to feed to the creature.

If they have nothing, then I have no problems returning to Minas Tirith

Ghân takes your point about possible orc captives and gratefully accepts Mulligan’s offer to scout for them. Do take Elfstan (but please don’t both go Invisible!)

Of course I read the GM’s posts carefully, but I certainly wasn’t ‘speaking for him’! Note that Ghân was suspicious of Hodwain, wouldn’t drink the Mead of Life, didn’t like the two Scouts both being Invisible and didn’t accept Riglo’s suggestions to hit the lair or attack a raiding party. Why … Ghân is practically a gadfly!

Once we’re traveling, could I please bug Ghan to grow Miron some of those paralytic plants? The solution won’t be as effective on arrows as on darts, but every little bit helps.

Elfstan is more than willing to return to the orc lair with Mulligan. He’s happy to be taking action again. If he wasn’t still invisible, he would seem somewhat fidgety.

“Mulligan and I seem to function and cooperate just fine with us both invisible. We’re getting lots of practice!”

“If we are to leave, let us leave,” Thoroncir says. “I see no particular value to having the Hobbits return to the orc-lair so soon after they have already been there. Although I commend their courage and their willingness to go on another scouting expedition, I think it puts them, even while invisible, in unnecessary danger for little gain.”

Ghân: The objective is to find if there are captives there that need immediate rescue.
If not, the hobbits could still find where the entrances and guard posts are.

DM, if we wait for the hobbits to scout, is there a chance to Plant Growth this for Miron?
Does Ghân think it will work on arrows?

Ghân can think of no way to make it work on arrows at this point. You could plant and then Plant Growth whenever you like.

The party seems to be arguing the night away at this point. I’ll let this ride until the afternoon (EST) but it needs to move forward with a firm decision/plan.

Ghân: OK, I’ll stick with making Goodberries then. Bad luck, Miron.

3 votes for further hobbit scouting, 1 against (and he’s an obliging chap!).
We’re a smooth group.

Just a reminder…

Elfstan politely reminds Ghan that we have found 3 entrances and also know where there are likely three more (the other three blinds/lookout posts). We located four lookout posts when we scouted the outside.

It might be time for a show of hands for who is still following this. It’s been a while since we’ve heard from about half of the party.

Agreed. Where is everyone?

I just sent out an Email to try and find out what everyone’s status is for the game.

Curled up in a sunny spot dreaming of fish.

Here and waiting. Deor is inclined to try a quick raid, but cooler heads (like my own) will probably cause him to vote for a return to Minas Tirith to gather information.

Riglo, “How will the Hobbits go back in and who will escort them and will it be tonight or first thing in the morning?”

Miron is uncomfortable staying around without better information, but if the hobbits insist on going back, he offers to escort them.

Thoroncir says, “If they are to go back at all, either Gil-Gandel or Miron would probably be best-suited to escort them and remain undetected. Perhaps better to wait until the morning, as the day now draws to a close and the vampire may be roaming tonight.”

We will be doing the following. Both going invisble, using the new entrance we found that is only just big enough for a hobbit and merely checking the larger areas to see if the Orcs gained any captives last night. If you want to try and escort us through the caves you are welcome to try.

And we will be doing it first thing in the morning, when the Orcs are at their sleepiest and we will know whether they have a victim or if they have to give up one of their own.

I suggest we all get a good night’s sleep, we should not be more than an hour in the Caves and we can be on our way back to Minas Tirith before mid-morning.

Now, who is for supper?

Thoroncir is famished. As he offered earlier, would anyone like to join him in hunting for some fresh meat before nightfall?

Ghân is happy with Miron escorting the hobbits for a final check of the orc lair for captives; followed by all of us escorting Hodwain back to Minas Titirh (where we gather information on the Being).
