Mike Martz is the biggest idiot in the NFL

Well An Arky you are looking at a “L” as the very good Mark Bulger will be starting- and he doesn’t lose too much. The rest of the team will be a bit cranky too. Rams may rebound and surprise the 49’s who have alot less weapons then in years past.

In a comparo of offensive geniuses, Martz versus Spurrier, it’s clear to me that Steve already realizes that he is going to have to adjust to the NFL not the other way around. Martz seems to think, in spite of all the visible evidence to the contrary, that he is fooling people.

Oh, hardeeharhar, elf6c ! Yeah, the Niners are lacking weapons, hence only scoring 49 points! OK, 43 not counting the interception return.

Yeah, I like my chances less with Bulger at QB and a stinging loss in their craw, but with Martz coaching, I’m not too worried!

We will see. Beating the 3-13 last year, Kordell led, no-running game Juaron led Bears is one thing, beating the Bulger led Rams is another (look to last year if you have questions). Note to the Lion’s fans- same principle, beating the horrid Cardinals doesn’t mean much.

Hey Emmitt Smith nice move, by the way.

I happen to admire Mike Martz for putting together a very potent offense. Problem is, he’s SO enamored of the offense he created that he refuses to see it doesn’t work as well as it used to!

Bill Belichick showed everyone, in the Super Bowl two seasons ago, exactly how to shut down the Rams’ passing game. Everybody in the league saw that game, everybody in the league has drawn up the same game plan for stopping the Rams’ offense, and it’s usually worked.

Martz SHOULD have started re-formulating his offense at halftime of that Super Bowl. Barring that, he SHOULD have re-formulated his offense in the year and a half since. Perhaps a few new wrinkles are called ofr- or, when teams drop eight men back into a zone, that would be a good time to feed them a heavy dose of Marshall Faulk.
Unfortunately, like many brilliant guys, Mike Martz is too proud of the plan he devised to deviate from it. And instead of acknowledging that the rest of the league has caught up to him, he remains convinced that the team doesn’t really have to change anything it’s doing.
I happen to agree (with sadness, since I’ve liked Kurt Warner a lot) that it’s time to bench Kurt Warner in favor of Bulger. But while Bulger will almost certainly do a better job of running the offense than Warner has of late, he STILL won’t get them back to where they should be if Martz doesn’t admit that something else has to change.
