Mike Martz is the biggest idiot in the NFL

I realize that you have a reputation as an offensive genius to regain, which I guess requires you to throw the ball on every down, but when you have Marshall Faulk, the second greatest weapon in the NFL (behind only Michael Vick), and your QB is screwing up, why don’t you just run the damn ball? Faulk ran the ball 9 times today. 9 times! That’s not even enough for him to get his uniform dirty. You need to get your head out of your ass, Martz.

This rant would have been much more vitrolic if I was a Rams fan.

Nah…John Fox is for starting Rodney Peete who had done nothing at all in pre season. He was totally ineffective.

He did wise up and put Jake Delhomme in the second half to pull the Panthers asses out of the fire.

And how often can that be said of Jake Delhomme? Truly a weird opening weekend.

Apparently, Warner suffered a concussion in the first half, but Martz sent him out again. Dipshit.

Actually the Bears orgainzation are the biggest idiots in the NFL, not just for signing Kordell Stewart, but then for allowing him to start this week. Way to go guys.:stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:  :wally :wally

As a Rams fan, Martz as head coach makes me pissed at Dick Vermeil for “retiring” after the Super Bowl Championship season, leaving us with an offensive coordinator who hadn’t had any grooming to be a head coach to helm the ship. Then he comes out of retirement only a year later to take charge of the Chiefs. Grrrrrrr

So Vermeil’s an ass for being so flaky about retiring and leaving the Rams with an offensive coordinator instead of a head coach, and Martz is an ass for… well just look at last season, and then the season before when we somehow got to the SuperBowl again only to get out-coached by the Patriots, and the season before that when our offense was great but the defense was crap.

Yeah, Martz is a tool all right. Today he made another one of his patented bad strategic calls. Down by 10, 5 minutes left, and he goes for it on 4th and 12 instead of trying a 50 yarder. Way to play the odds there, buddy.

(Not a Rams fan either.)

That was bad, but what’s WORSE is that he didn’t learn a dang thing from that mistake- on the next series, he did exactly the same thing! Instead of attempting a field goal, which would have put the Rams within a touchdown of the lead, he went for it again- knowing that, if the conversion failed, the game was, essentially, over.

I happen to like Martz as an offensive coordinator, but he’s proven repeatedly that, as a game-day decision maker, he stinks.

I’m confused. I thought Martz was an “offensive genius.” Why would an “offensive genius” do this?

Marty Schottenheimer is probably high on the list of NFL idiots. Marty, as usual, burned all his timeouts with about 4 minutes left down 13 to the Chiefs today.

As a New York Giants fan, I thought Martz did an exceptional job today

Right there with ya, Banger.

Go Big Blue!

Long Live Mike Martz!

Go Blue!

Faulk only had 9 carries?

Unbelievable. Just unbelievable.

Maybe if Martz and Mike Sherman got together, they could qualify as 1/2 of a head coach.

Unless Vermeil hired Martz, I don’t think he’s quite an ass for that. He’s an ass for retiring and then changing his mind, but St. Louis could have hired someone other than Martz. The blame for that rests on their shoulders, not Vermeil’s.

(That is, he hired him to be the head coach.)

As a Steeler fan, I can truly say I feel your pain. I’m just glad he’s not our headache anymore.

I always knew that one day the Steelers would trade him, but my biggest fear was that when they did, he would get his head out of his ass and lead his new team to a Super Bowl victory. To be completely honest, I’m smiling from ear to ear seeing him dash the hopes of another team. My condolences go out to Bears fans.

Cut your team captain and the heart of your defense a couple days before your first game without warning. Watch him sign with a division rival your are playing that week. Come out very flat. Get ass handed too you by that player and rival team. Classic. Martz didn’y lose 31-0 at least.

Well Faulk wasn’t doing all that great with the 9 rushes he did get, so maybe that’s not so bad. Maybe.

Not doing anything (like giving him a breather) when you notice your QB is “confused” is stupid.

Going for it twice on 4th down with makeable fieldgoals when you’re down 10 late in the 4th quarter is just idiotic.

As a Niners fan, I can only chuckle and lick my lips, for we got them next week. Warner, I believe, has turned into a pumpkin…

But Warner turning into a pumpkin wasn’t the main problem; as others have pointed out, running Marshall Faulk only nine times was pretty stupid…
