Mild Gripe--My New Glasses.

Are all screwed up.
I gave em a chance. I wore them for a day & a half.
Total disaster.
Can’t read, use my computer, watch tv–garbage.
I’m wearing my old ones, & taking these things back on Saturday.

Been there. So irritating.

I learned every optometrists Office has one fitting guru, who can likely make a couple of small adjustments inhow they sit, etc, that can make all the difference. Because the tiniest misalignment can really screw up how you see out of them.

Trust me, they’ve heard this complaint before. Call them up, relay your frustration, they will hook you up with their fitting guru and life will get better.

I suggest you give it a try, you’ve got nothing to lose after all.

Good Luck!

One of my pairs had concentric circles in both lenses and I didn’t notice until I got them home. Took 'em back the next day.

I went to “America’s Best” an optical chain store.
New, locally, with a green staff.

Ugh, went there once, never again. Eff America’s Best

Optometrists are notorious for hiring unqualified help. Before you let someone adjust your glasses ask to see their license if you live in one of the states that requires it. If you don’t, ask to see their ABO certificate.

So why do I never get to work with that person? I haven’t had a pair of glasses fit right as an adult, and I wonder about childhood. My biggest problem now is that the temples are never long enough, so the bend causes them to rest painfully on my ears. If I want to read, I usually have to tilt them forward so the temples are an inch-and-a-half above my ears and then I’m constantly adjusting them. The prescription that seems OK in the office means that I could never drive a route I don’t already know perfectly because I can’t read signs.
You know your eyes are bad when you and your optometrist are both rooting for cataracts so you can get the intra-ocular implants.

Have you asked? Because that’s all it took for me. But they’re not mind readers.

It costs nothing and only takes a few moments of your time. All you need do is find out when their guru will be in residence and turn up.

Seems totally worth the effort to me, what have you got to lose?

I went in, & talked to the boss, who also seems a bit of a guru.
I have an appointment, Monday, after work, for a new eye exam.
The doc blew the exam.

Good to hear. I always take forever during the exam, just to make sure that “1” is better than “2” . I am unabashed to point out any imperfections in the product as prescribed/dispensed. How will they know if you don’t tell them, right?

The worst set of glasses I ever had took me a week to get back to the doc’s office. They took them off of my face, put them under a lamp/set of lenses, and marked the focusing area. Then they put them back on my face and said they were several millimeters off from where my pupils are. Whoever marked the first set of lenses royally messed up; the optometrist said I should be having severe headaches! Of course they fixed it for free, and I had to spend a week with my old pair until the new ones came back (the original new ones were unusable).

The fitting guru at my eye doctor’s office is the eye doctor’s wife.

She’s very good though. Her only problem is that she’s kinda short, so she has to stand on a little step stool to be able to look me in the eye and get the measurements right.

Bosda here’s hoping the exam went well since today is Monday. I have bifocals for the first time. The glasses are fine, fit me well, and IMHO look good on me. However, getting use to bifocals has been trippy.

I pick up my new Costco glasses tomorrow. I’ll let you know if they did a good job.

New glasses coming.
Tweak in the prescription, and smaller lenses, to reduce distortion (I got a killer strong scrip).
