As has been pointed out to you, nobody intentionally “back links to the pit thread”. That is something Discourse does automatically.
Here: I’m posting the URL for a post you made. I’m doing absolutely nothing more than posting the URL
Go look at that post and you will see that it now has a “back link” to this pit thread. You probably also got a notification that you have been linked.
