Thats biased alright.
Jerks get thread banned.
Someone doesn’t understand sarcasm…
I hesitate to ask why… but WHY???
Also I introduce you to some very simple yet effective software, Synergy. Single keyboard/mouse over multiple machines. I used it when I was a show-off young developer running Windows, Linux and OSX all at the same time, but only 3 machines. 4 monitors though…I was nerding out.
Eh, many of the people who’ve chimed in here about her I’ve always known to be pleasant, reasoned posters.
My wife worked from home full time for multiple years. I did during the pandemic and now occasionally as a hybrid worker. No printer in the household. We sometimes went to the public library to print if we had to. I don’t get why people have to have a printer. We just find no need any longer. I got rid of our laser printer years ago when the toner ran out.
Indeed. Bless Their Hearts.
I use my printer all the time. I just printed diplomas to give to my graduating square dance class yesterday. I printed a bunch of documents to get real ID. I print a copy of my tax forms because it’s easier to review on paper, where i can tick off the numbers as i check them. For that matter, i print a copy of the W2s and such to keep for my records.
I also use the scanner. I scanned my passport as part of the process of completing forms to take a new (remote) job. I had to sign papers to foster cats. They emailed them to me, i printed them and signed them, scanned them, and emailed them back. I could have skipped the scanner and just taken a photo with my phone, but once you have the printer that scans, it’s worth using it because it’s less fussy, and takes a cleaner image.
A lot of WFH jobs require printing. My daughter often has to print 25-50 pages at a time. When I work from home, I save most of my printing until I make it in to the office, but sometimes I have to do it at home. I’m not going to the library for that.
For me specifically, I am a gamer, and when the kids are home and want to play something, I can quickly print out some character sheets/army lists/whatever I need. For that reason I actually switched to a color laser rather than inkjet; I can go months without printing and my inkjet kept drying out or something between uses.
ETA: dammit, I managed to get pulled into the Printing of Beck discussion!
Only on the dope will a pitting turn into deep and very meaningful discussion about the merits/pitfalls of printers.
The Printing of Beck indeed.
And I just now got through my unread portion of the Australian UHC thread.
Beck was doing an admirable impersonation of Dennis the Peasant.
“Help! Help! I’m being repressed!”
A well-deserved thread ban.
I concur. That’s why this continued beef with Beck has me flummoxed.
The reasoned poster beef with Beck is clearly spelled out above. One does not have to agree, but the opinions are clear and valid.

I own three printers
I also own an Okidata dot matrix printer for the Commodore 64. It is part of large amount of obsolete computer and console stuff I am trying to give to close friends or sell to strangers.
(Raises hand)
Actually, it’s more having a physical keyboard instead of a tiny screen one where I get a 3 instead of a w.
I remember back when owning 3 colanders meant something.
How about a whisk for any occasion?
Oh my, now THERE is a blast from the past
Couldn’t find a Univac?
