June 3 was when she was chided for insulting a newbie, which I hear she apologized for in the corresponding thread. So even she agreed (if she indeed apologized, I haven’t seen it). Then it was dropped and dormant. Then 3 weeks later you jumped in and brought it back up because you saw a r"Suggest link".

FTR, and not directed specifically at you because others seem to believe the same thing, but this is a very inaccurate and misleading characterization of what happened. Even though it’s old news, I don’t think this has been adequately addressed.
First of all, no one knew that English was not the first language of the poster that Beck criticized until they mentioned it later in post #15. Second, the problems with that post had nothing to do with language proficiency. Writing “thanksss” and “saud” instead of “said” isn’t a language issue, it’s just carelessness. The whole post was a mess, and the whole issue of not being able to figure out how to reply to a post (and later, thinking that 500K and 0.5 megabytes are vastly different numbers) also speaks to a lack of attention unrelated to language proficiency.
It appears to me that Beck was just trying to be helpful, conscious from personal experience that we tend to be a nitpicky crowd. The criticism was clumsily worded and came across as rude, for which Beck later apologized. Why this became such a huge issue is a question best addressed to those who made it one.

Yeah Beck I think has successfully worked at her posting game. While I may skim her mostly I got no distaste or disrespect for her. This Chela? Wow that’s an annoying piece of stupidity!

Huh? It was immediately apparent to some of us. Unmuting her, I see that she then responded that she wasn’t jumping on him, she was just warning him by criticizing him so that other people wouldn’t jump on him. What a mess.
I can never decide whether chela’s drunk-posting or not. It’s hard to imagine what could make a person post like that unless they’re hammered.
How was this “immediately apparent” before post #15 in that thread where the poster said for the first time that English was their third language?
They had made only two posts prior to Beck’s criticism. The one she was criticizing was an orthographic and formatting mess. The second one had no particular issues. Yet you were able to discern that this was not a native English speaker just from those two posts? What are the amazing skills that enable you to do this?
It’s amazing that there are folks in this thread defending what the Pitee herself said was wrong and mean . . . because it was done to her and she did not like it.
Why, with that knowledge, she did it anyway is something to ponder.
