Mild Pitting of Bruce Tinsley for Feb 20th Mallard Fillmore

Since links to newspapers sometimes “die” after a short time, I decided to copy the cartoon and upload it to an old Geocities website: Feb 20 Mallard Fillmore
I can’t tell where that asterisk is directing the reader (maybe Tinsley doesn’t even have the cite listed). Anyway, it may be referring to the Sept 19, 2007 edition of the Washington Times&p_perpage=10&p_sort=YMD_date:D&xcal_useweights=no) which has an article by John McCaslan.
Sorry it only has the incomplete article but I’m not going to pay the extra bucks to get the complete article.

I’m guessing a more recent article (01-31-2008) at the townhall website might have been the inspiration for that cartoon.

The thing that aggravates me about this cartoon is how (in Tinsley’s imagination), scientists are so quick to change their minds, stick with politically correct thinking, etc
What a bunch of crap.
I would have put this in the Pit but hey … it’s Bruce Tinsley.

It was a joyous day for me when the L.A. Times bagged Mallard Fillmore. Newspapers are not supposed to make you stupider. Now, I’m just hoping they do the same thing to the Family Circle.

There’s an asterisk and a name I can’t read on the left edge of the first panel. I’m assuming it’s what you are looking for. (John something?)

The shame of it is, Tinsley is hilarious when he’s not being political. I love this one, for example.

The problem is that passion and humor can’t co-exist. The same issue that plagued Doonesbury since GWB took office.
