Mild pitting of my old isp/spam e-mail address.

I have just found out that my old ISP has adopted a policy of deleting accounts that are not dialed into for a set amount of time. My old isp now serves as my spam address so I NEVER dial in. I just check the e-mail at work or whilst dialled into a different account.

Now I have to remember all the places I’ve used that e-mail address, and change it. I’ve created a new spam address with my current isp.
On the up side, Once the account closes I won’t have to wade through all that facking spam that it gathered every day. Including the now boring daily “please scan your pc for errors by [date]” and “new microsoft security update” (yeah right!) and “mail delivery system - undeliverable” (Er, I didn’t send any mail from this account) messages.
anyone else got experience with ‘migrating’ a spam address? Got any advice for me? thinks I might be likely to forget to do? thanks.

damn. even charter member’s posts get eaten.

any general advice on how to avoid my new spam address from gathering spam?

Don’t tell anyone, anywhere, and especially not online, what your new spam address is.

Ice Wolf:

Probably necessary, but not sufficient.

I signed up for a new account from my ISP purely because I get x megs of FTP space for every account and I’m entitled to 5 accounts for free with the base account. In other words, didn’t need the extra email account, just the extra megs of FTP space.

And yet I already get spam at that totally unusued, totally unadvertised and unpublished, email address.
