So I have my new Samsung Convoy mobile phone. Seems simple and rugged, which is about what I need.
Getting a contact list into this phone involves sending it from PC to a website, then to the phone - not difficult once you’ve got past some lame instructions on Verizon’s website.
But what’s this? Contacts are listed in order by first name? Rather a stupid default, but it will surely be easy to change - the phone has all sorts of configuration options.
But not that one. After much searching, a call to Customer Service confirms that whereas on the website names can be listed in any chosen order, on the phone it’s always by first name. (Who could have imagined customers so strange they’d want contacts sorted by last name? Surely there’s no precedent for listing phone numbers that way.)
The workaround is obvious. Delete all names from both phone and website, then upload a new file in which first and last names are swapped. Once they undergo the mandatory re-swapping all will be right.
Very hard to see why this sort of nonsense should be necessary.
