Milk prices are too damned high

So here is a recipe for Soy Milk

Soy milk is simple.
Wash dried beans as you normally would before cooking.
Soak beans overnight.
Puree 1 cup soaked beans in 2.5 cups water.
Add to 2 cups hot water and cook.Don’t let it foam over.
Cool and strain through cloth that you can tighten and squeeze.
Refrigerate and enjoy.

This recipe is from my Y2K collection.

Pretty simple huh.

On the other hand :
Did you really pay $1.00 for that pepsi out of that machine?

Let’s see.
The title belongs in Great Debates.
The recipe belongs in MPSIMS.
The final question belongs in either General Questions or IMHO.

I’m sending this mess to MPSIMS, and if you send me a couple of extra strength Tylenol, I might forgive you.

Soy milk?? I thought that was something from cafe society. Not that I would be caught anywhere near a soy latte myself.

I’m thinking when one considers what one is paid per hour, and the time required to make the soy milk, not to mention the ingredients and energy, it comes out a shade more expensive than the $3 or so per gallon that it costs in my area. That’s the way I figure out if it’s worth doing something to “save money.” My time is worth something to me - given the choice between leisure and a chore like this, there’s no debate.

But I suppose if you enjoy making soy milk, the cost isn’t the big issue. Whatever works, huh?

Nah, I’d rather pay the three bucks for the milk then make some yummie brownies to go with it. On second thought, since I’m in the store, why don’t I just buy the brownies too. FCM ain’t the only lazy one. :stuck_out_tongue:

The thing I hate about soy milk is trying to get my big clumsy fingers on them leetle tiny teats on the underside of a soybean. Well, that and having to milk about five thousand of 'em to get enough for my cereal.

It’s balancing my big behind on that teeny-tiny little stool that trips me up, and finding that bitty, little bucket.

Aah, the administration’s just artificially inflating the price of milk so they can suddenly drop it right before the elections…

Milk is cheap, compared to baby food. This is where the missus and I concentrated our homemade efforts.

We saved boodles of money, and got much tastier food for our twins this way.
