MilliCal Strikes Again!

Yet another entry in the log of “Kids Say the Darndest/Weirdest Things”.

“Daddy,” said MilliCal, our six-year-old, as we attempted to get her into bed, “Can I ask you a question?”

“The answer is “e” ,” I said, attempting to pre-emptively respond.

“Daddy!” she huffed, “It’s not about math!”

…And, yes, she was referring to Euler’s Number, 2.718281828…, as the rest of the exchange shows:

Me: “How did you know “e” was a number?”

MilliCal(Exasperated): “From you, Daddy!”

Wow. That’s incredible. I think your family might be as geeky as mine.

My default answer is “tractor”. You can’t make that cover a math concept. Could be why my kids are so derned stupid.

Okay. She just did it again.
As I was typing here, she walked in and asked for three pieces of computer paper (to draw on). Then she said that “It takes one odd number and one even number to make an odd number.” (Like three).

“Where did you hear that?” I asked.

“I figured it out myself,” she replied.

I had her repeat it to Pepper Mill. Even if she’s repeating what she heard elsewhere (although she isn’t given to lying) I’m impressed.
