Are you sure you’re a Republican? If so, shouldn’t that have been “I sure hope the crime scene folks are done with Airforce One”???

Making threats of violence = bad.
Insulting someone’s personal life = bad.
Spoofe, if you can’t see the difference between calling someone an asshole and beating someone’s head in as a response, then you’ve got some issues.
For instance, I’m pretty sure you can’t stand me. So, you read this thread and call me every name you can think of. That’s all fine and dandy. They’re just words. Calling me a bitch or an idiot is not nice, for sure, but it doesn’t matter to me all that much in the long run.
However, if you were to threaten to kick my ass because you disagree, well that’s a new thing entirely. Not only would I report you to your ISP for harrassment, but I would e-mail the admins every three minutes until something was done about it. Such behavior not only makes you look like an idiot; it makes you look like a complete and total pussy so incapable of fighting words with words that you resort to intangible threats of violence. That whole “don’t be a jerk” thing certainly comes into play here. Such threats are, AFAICS, the worst jerk behavior possible.
Threatening violence is not acceptable IRL (that’s why you can get arrested for it) and it’s not acceptable OL, particularly on this message board. Any respect I may have for someone is totally erased, null and void, if they are too ignorant to fight fair.
The difference being, of course, that losing my respect for you, and saying so, is a lot different than pounding your face into my wall.
I really have to wonder about people who think violence is ever a suitable solution. Especially when those people openly admit to having a hard-on for guns and the Second Amendment.

I hate it when you DDHFers have to throw in some unrelated slam on the Bill of Rights.

RT’s version of GD political debate is apparently something like this, or this. (Hint: Read until the liberal “we all agree and we’re all so smart and witty” party is busted up by an indignant Republican or conservative in each.)
I don’t get it. In the second thread (Let’s Impeach Clinton…Again!), on two occasions I criticize liberals for taking things too far. And I didn’t even post to the first one (Where will Bush start a war first?).

Shouldn’t this be “damn democrat high fivers” in the current GOP tradition of never referring to the Democrat*ic * Party???
I’m not going to pull all the quotes, it would just give me a headache.
I merely wish to point out that your argument and your passion is, well, bullshit. I don’t buy it for a second. You contradict yourself without even realizing it.
Here is the bottom line:
Your father worked hard and became wealthy, not you.
You did not create all the wealth he has, he did.
It is not yours, it is his.
Except that he has given you a bunch, making you worth a great deal, according to your brag.
You are highly indignant about other people who want “handouts”.
Well, I have a newsflash for you: your great wealth now and in the future will be because YOU will have gotten * the biggest fucking handout imaginable. *
So spare us all the indigntation, 'k?
stoid
PS: Don’t go into a rant about how you deserve it because you are your dad’s kid. Warren Buffet doesn’t feel that way, Bill Gates doesn’t feel that way, a whole lot of very wealthy people don’t feel that way. Not to mention the fact that statistically, children of wealthy people who have it handed to them are more likely to lose the fortune than grow it. I think it would behoove you and your father to read “The Millionaire Next Door” and take it to heart.
Oh, and one more thing: not only is the money you get from your father a handout, but it’s not legitimate for you to be full of pride about it, either. You can be proud of HIM, but be straight about where the pride belongs: on him, not you.
Sorry if I seem a little harsh and unsympathetic, but anyone whining about the fact that * their * handout isn’t going to be * big enough * just fucking annoys me.
- Insulting someone’s personal life = bad.
- Making threats of violence = unacceptable.
- Opening a thread in the Pit = safe.
Which one of these is false?
And I thought they wanted to get rid of the SAT’s…
Personally, I think it’s ridiculous that this has gone on as long as it has. #1 and #2 are both true. Duh. I believe I’ve said as such. I don’t even know why the fuck you threw in #3. It’s completely unrelated (and since when does “opening a thread in the Pit = safe”?).
I’ll say it again… RTF shoulda laid off the crack about Milo’s job, and Milo shouldn’t have reminded RTF about his challenge.
Further discussion is unnecessary.
Spoofe, if you can’t see the difference between calling someone an asshole and beating someone’s head in as a response, then you’ve got some issues.
And here comes Nacho with her obligatory “You’ve got issues” crap.
That is NOT WHAT HAPPENED. There’s a difference between calling someone an asshole and making fun of their job just to piss them off even more, AND there’s a difference between “beating someone’s head” and issuing a challenge.
For instance, I’m pretty sure you can’t stand me.
You’re wrong. I just disagree with you on occasion… a rarer occasion than you would think.
However, if you were to threaten to kick my ass because you disagree, well that’s a new thing entirely.
I agree. Find a quote where anyone threatened to kick anyone’s ass.
Such behavior not only makes you look like an idiot; it makes you look like a complete and total pussy so incapable of fighting words with words that you resort to intangible threats of violence.
I agree. Where did I ever suggest otherwise? Find a quote.
Threatening violence is not acceptable IRL (that’s why you can get arrested for it) and it’s not acceptable OL, particularly on this message board.
Again, I AGREE. I have always stood by that, and I have always said as such. Again, I don’t know why this is such an issue.
**SPOOFE Bo Diddly **:
I agree that it is ridiculous.
What I don’t understand is if you agree that threats are unacceptable then why do you accept and defend them?
You do understand the difference between bad and worse, right?
#3 had nothing to do with your post.
I was attempting to point out that Milossarian was being inconsistant by complaining that RTF attacked him while remaining safe behind a keyboard. By starting this thread RTF opened himself to exactly the same type of attack. If Milossarian can’t defend himself from words without falling back on his fists then perhaps he shouldn’t hang in a forum like GD which is dedicated to attacking and defending with words.
…AND there’s a difference between “beating someone’s head” and issuing a challenge.
Yes. The difference is that one is the action itself and the other threatens the action.
Both are unacceptable. What distinction are you trying to make here?
Find a quote where anyone threatened to kick anyone’s ass
Milossarian threatened RTF in this very thread.
“I imagine you’ll run from this like a little shrinking violet, just as you did my suggestion that we get together and you call me an “ignorant turd” to my face, and we just see what happens.”
What would you expect to see happen, SPOOFE?
Just my 2sense
We’d watch C-SPAN?
Oh… well… I guess that’s OK then.
And hey… it was thoughtful of you to express concern that RTF’s wrists might be too fragile to hold the remote.
Just my 2sense
Nacho4Sara: You stupid, worthless bitch. Do you have any idea how big of an idiot you truly are? You have nothing useful to contribute here (or anywhere else in your life, I am sure). Just keep your mouth shut and your head (and shoulders, too; I’m sure they’d fit) firmly wedged up your ass, and we’ll all be happier.
I don’t actually feel the sentiments I’ve just expressed above. I would point out, however, that by your definition (and that of others in this thread), what I’ve done is just “disagree with you.”
So, how do you feel?

I’d agree, except there’s one fact I’ve been delinquent in providing.
I don’t tend to look at profiles of posters I don’t particularly care for. But when Milo issued his challenge/threat in the GD thread, I got curious as to where he lived. But for that, I still wouldn’t know, or care, what Milo does for a living.
I regard a healthy skepticism and an ability to ask reasonably penetrating questions as part of a reporter’s stock in trade, hence my reaction.
Oh, I don’t know, RT.
You see things from one partisan side, you get smug and insulting with people that don’t kow-tow to your version of political events and their importance, and yet you’re still doing well enough in the real world to at least own a computer, pay for electricity and an internet connection.

Occasionally, Milo, there’s actually the spark of a worthwhile human being in there.
And, 2sense, your response had me ROFLMAO.
Will one of you guys pass the chips - if you think my wrist is strong enough to hold onto the bag? And the remote, too - I’d like to change channels to ESPN for a moment.

OTOH, you still don’t have a clue on some things, no matter how clearly it’s spelled out.
It’s not about agreeing or disagreeing. This weekend, I was debating Scylla and IzzyR** on the estate tax over in GD. I respect them thoroughly, and that they disagree with me pretty strongly on this issue - and on many others, I’m sure - is incidental. I have great respect for Freedom and techchick, despite disagreeing with each of them on about nine issues out of ten. pldennisson and I cross swords all the time in GD, and I think he’s a hell of a good guy.
You’ll catch on eventually. Or maybe not.
