Minnesota gays and lesbians are very sorry...

Nope. On this issue they have own the high ground, regardless.

They maintain the high ground by not being bigoted pieces of shit out to destroy people’s families.

I think it’s funny as Hell. Reads something like a Dennis Miller rant, and skewers the target with style.

In what bizarro universe do you live in that gay people aren’t automatically on the moral high ground when contrasted with people actively working to oppress us?

When somebody leaves an open goal like that, it would be an absolute crime not to smack the ball into the back of the net with aplomb. Bonus points for the dripping sarcasm.

I thought it was an article from The Onion. It was that good. Yes, point out their hypocrisy. Rub their noses in it.

-Typo Knig (who is straight, but not narrow)

Oh lord, not another CitizenPained Gay People Don’t Do Things the Way I Think They Should. Also, did you need to quote the entire letter in order to realize it was sent by one person and not an organization?

If this guy had outed her, to coin a phrase, maybe, But he didn’t. He also targeted a single hypocrite, versus her interfering in the lives of a whole class of people. Plus, SSM is supposed to damage OSM in some weird way, not just spread the gay.

It would have been more amusing if her affair was with a woman, though.

Hah! Brilliantly snarky and totally apropos given Ms. Koch’s completely public statements about what kind of people are and are not suited for marriage.

Apparently her marriage is now up for a vote.

Where on earth did you get this idea? If gay people can be in monogamous marriages, who would the straight people “stray and engage in homosexual sex” with . . . each other?

I’m the Outlier, and I approve of this message.

I agree. It has the oppressive sarcasm of a Dennis Miller rant.

And it’s the GLBT people, most of whom do not even know the child, who are supposed to be worried that the child will find out Mom commited adultery, rather than Mom being worried that her adultery may harm her spouse and child? Are you serious?

Even more irony - from **Sudden Kestrel’s **link :

I’m still waiting for an apology to Iris Robinson. Damn those gays and their adultery- and fraud-encouraging ways!

I think this comes the closest to summing up my opinion. It’s a funny situation and it’s one that Koch is entirely responsible for, since she chose to promote the legislation and have an affair. It’s the same situation Newt Gingrich put himself in 15 years ago, and any number of anti-gay or loudly “pro-family” politicians have gone through similar scandals. Not to overstate things, but laughing at hypocrites is an important part of politics. The letter is pretty freaking funny and the only unique thing about it is that it’s topical. Pro-gay rights people have been making these kinds of comments for years. The only thing that makes this different is that it was sent to one specific politician after she got caught having an affair. Is pointing and laughing a nice thing to do? It’s usually not, but sometimes people earn it, and it sure sounds like Koch was one of them.

Yeah, because the kid is going to find out about this very public indiscretion by his mother by reading a letter in City Pages - a local newspaper that pretty much has reviews of bar bands and ads in back for “private massage therapy” and which my own kids (older kids growing up in a socially permissive family) don’t see (mostly because they don’t get the opportunity or have any interest, not because we wouldn’t let them). And not from it being on the radio, the TV, the major newspapers, the internet - or the fact that Mom lost her job in a scandal.

One of the things that I’ve learned with kids is that if there is anything I don’t want my kids to know about, I shouldn’t do it. Even if it was 30 years ago, someone will spill the beans. So live a life you can justify to your kids now, and be ready to explain that you made mistakes in the past.

There’s no way an adultery statute is enforceable post-Lawrence. But it’s still funny.

Who voted John Medeiros to be the King of Gays, anyway?

It’s irresponsible of the media to use headlines like “Gay Community Apologizes…” for this story. It’s one asshole, not a community.

Koch deserved it, but at least get the fundamental facts of the story straight.

Since when does writing satire make one an asshole?

This is one area where I always have fun with. My extremely conservative, Southern Methodist BIL is forever bitching about gays and always goes on and on about how gays hurt the institute of marriage.

Oh, and this is my BIL’s third marriage, and my sister’s second. They met and started their relationship (including sex ) while they were both married.

But if we could only stops those gays. . ..
