I didn’t see any other thread about this. Given the people who tend to frequent these boards, I didn’t feel it to be necessary to plop this in GD.
Here’s the video.
It's insulting, but also a little amusing too.
“I have gay friends” they claim… trust me, they aren’t your friends. I don’t see how any sane person could be friends with these idiots rather than faking it just to be polite.
Why are the crying?
I’ve got a great way to solve this “pesky” gay marriage problem for these bigots, and other’s like them. If you believe that marriage is between a man and a woman then DON’T GET MARRIED TO SOMEONE WHO’S THE SAME SEX AS YOU!
Someone told them something was absolute truth, and they believed it. Now they feel they have to tell others that they think it’s absolute truth. Interesting that they never really give any substance as to how or why they think it’s absolute truth (beyond attributing it to God, which is hardly helpful).
the original video is disgusting, but thankfully it has a ton more dislikes than it does likes. it makes me want to punch the people in the video. ARGH! i’m so furious now -_-
I hate that they liken having unpopular opinions with “being different”.
I think religious people are delusional fools. And this too is an unpopular opinion. But you’re not going to find me weeping because I feel pressured to keep this opinion to myself when in mixed company.
Well, yeah, except that the other side firmly and unswervingly believes that the right to marriage is an absolute truth, and that they never have to give any explanation as to how or why they think so either, so what’s the difference?
At first I agreed with you, but when I saw there was a parody video, I watched the original in order to appreciate the parody. I think it was a good use of ~6 minutes of my life, since the parody was immensely cheering.
How many people have to be quoted, in which accepted & approved by you publications, in which countries etc., etc./ etc…
Need to make your cite request clear or one single email from a nut house inmate will have to be accepted as a cite.
Also noted that you did not request one for the religious people using GOD to have a provable cite of science proving the non existence or existence of God… ( prejudiced much? )
If you demand that it is USA specific cite — from your position of being a citizen of a totally different country ----- then it is as pertinent as an unicorn floating on it’s head on a column of air on the moon is pertent.
*::: this ‘cite’ business can be complicated and a double edged sword and as an Englishman or UK resident, you should be very familiar with since you have very little knowledge of guns but excel in fighting to the death trying to preserve 2000 year old rocks, rocks for god’s sake, left from when your country was over run for the umpteenth time and so your whole education system is suspect. *
“the other side firmly and unswervingly believes that the right to marriage is an absolute truth” is quite a substantial claim, IMO, so yeah, I don’t think one limp fringe cite would be sufficient. An unqualified claim has been made here; the cite should at the very least demonstrate that a significant majority of the other side does in fact believe that.
“I have gay friends” sounds better than “I know gay people who tolerate me being around.” Especially when the next line is “But I don’t see why I should tolerate them in return.”
What explanation does the pro-gay marriage side ever give other than ‘marriage is a fundamental right’? They don’t even feel they need to give a reason at all, and that if someone asks for one it means they’re a homophobic bigot or something. That’s what I took from the video, these people are sick of them being vilified if they dare state *anything *other than complete and utter agreement with the idea that gay marriage should obviously be legal…
