I’m currently on vacation in the Canadian hinterland with my iPad. I live in the UK so I bought a month of 3G service from Bell. I won’t bore you with the backflips I had to perform to get the thing working on the same day as the iPhone4 launch in Canada. As it turns out there is wireless here at the cabin so at least for this leg of the trip I don’t need the 3G.
BUT how do I get the thing to stop telling me that there is no service this far north? It interrupts me about every 90 seconds to let me know. When I’m reading I just put it in airplane mode and I know I could take the sim card out but is there a setting buried somewhere that would make it stop?
Also when I set up my email it insisted on trying to download every email I ever got from the Virgin server. (I have no ide why they’re all still there). There doesn’t appear to be a lot of layers or hidden settings on this thing but I thought I’d ask anyway.
