Minor point about the menu defaults

Either I’m misremembering or under the old software the “new posts” menu used to display more than 25 posts per page. I can’t see an option within my CP to change the default, so I’m guessing the software sets it at 25 and it can only be changed at the admin end. While it isn’t really a hardship to view 4-6 pages of new posts instead of 2-3, I’m just wondering if there’s any really reason for it being set so low (it could well be that most users only view the first couple of pages and by having those pages set at 25 we’re conserving bandwidth)?

I also noticed that within individual forums the maximum posts per page view has changed from 50 to 40? Is this inbuilt in the software, and will it mean that in future threads will have to be closed after 6 or so pages or will the overall number of posts per thread remain unchanged and they’ll just be spread out over more pages?

reprise - You should be seeing 50 threads per page in the forum display and 50 posts per page in a thread display.
Our board default settings are:
Maximum number of posts to display on a thread page before splitting over multiple pages - 50
User Settable Maximum Posts per Page - 5,10,20,30,40
Threads per Page - 50
In user cp -> Edit options you can override the default number of posts per thread page by changing the value for Default Posts per Thread: - you can pick one of the five values listed above next to “User Settable Maximum Posts per Page”. If you want it to remain 50, then choose “Default” for that value.

Someone else (maybe it was Shayna) was saying that the # of threads per forum page / posts per thread page was sometimes switching on her. The only thing I could think of is maybe she was being logged out unexpectedly and the settings reverted to some kind of vBulletin system default due to some problem with the cookies on her system. Check out the sticky thread in this forum about being logged out unexpectedly to see what settings we recommend.
