Baby delivered in toilet of a running train, falls through the bowl onto tracks ,and miraculously survives…
Wow, that is incredible!
The story I read, at the end the doctor said sort of off-handedly (because she was small and a bit premature) “we do not expect such children to survive”, indicating to me that they weren’t giving much hope for this little girl. I hope I"m wrong and she grows up big and strong. She wasn’t really that small - 3.22 lbs is huge considering how well many micropremies are.

I kind of want to know why the mom was delivering on the toilet.
Also, if the baby falls right out of you, what of the umbilical cord? Is it like a bungee jumping effect? Does the cord just snap or do you hang there?
The mother *said * she did not know she was delivering a baby. From what I’ve read elsewhere, “toilets” on trains in India are often nothing more than a seat over a hole in the floor.
The story I read said the baby wasn’t expected to come for a few more weeks.
It can really be that unexpected, though? One minute you think you’re taking a piss/crap and the next a baby is out of you?
There are women people who didn’t even realize they were *pregnant *until the baby came out, so stranger things have happened.
I have to say that in this picture mom does not look overly thrilled that baby survived…
Reading the second linked article, it seems as though the mother went to the bathroom, used the toilet (or not) and then delivered the baby in the bathroom. Being as the “toilet” is a hole in the bottom of the car, the baby slipped out the hole - but not necessarily as the mother was using it. She (the mother) also bled a lot and passed out, so it’s possible she was holding the (slippery bloody) baby and dropped her.
Of course, it’s also possible she was trying to dispose of her, but I don’t see anyone in the know speculating along those lines. The only reason I really wonder is because it’s a girl, and because the woman looks terribly thin to have been pregnant, even by second/third world standards, making me wonder if another child will be a hardship on them. The father, at least, appears happy to have another family member, but honestly, what would *you *say to a reporter?
Since it was India, and she doesn’t look too thrilled that the baby survived I think she probably delivered the baby, saw that it was a girl and threw it away.
uh how did some here arrive at the conclusion the babe is unwanted, the famiy did backtrack to find the infant didn’t they? And to say that the mother saw it was a girl and then threw her away is a total fabrication and an insult imo. Who cares if the mom is not smiling for the camera she is probably concerned for her baby’s life!
According to this earlier article, the mother passed out in the bathroom, then came to to discover that her belly was no longer occupied.
I can’t guarantee that I’d be thrilled at being photographed over my newborn’s hospital bed so soon after giving birth. I don’t have a kid yet, so I could be wrong.
