Ma'am, I think you dropped something . . .

I don’t think anyone has posted about this yet, but you guys wil love it! It’s a story about a woman who gave birth on the T in Boston. That’s not the strange part, people have had kids in odd places before. What makes this story great is that the woman seemed unphased by it, refused help from other passengers, and didn’t even want to discuss it. It sounds like a scene out of a Farelly Brothers movie.

I think my favorite part is:

I know that it’s a serious thing and that the baby could have been hurt, but still . . .

It must have been the most surreal thing ever to witness. How do you go to work after a thing like that? I guess you’d be excused from actually doing any work as long as you told the story over and over to your co-workers.

And another  from me!

This is just jaw-droppingly weird - I can’t even begin to imagine what the other passengers were thinking, particularly when people were offering her help and she was just refusing it!

Although, this bit did make me laugh guiltily:

I just keep imagining it making this “whump!” kind of sound as it hit the platform, and that shoulder bag is going to be unuseable from now on, I’m sure!

Seriously though, it does seem really weird that she refused all offers of help - I hope she gets over the whole experience, and gets the baby and her other kids returned to her soon (assuming she was just in shock and not suffering from some other kind of mental illness that would mean she couldn’t care for her children)

Before much information was really available, there was a plea in the Globe for anyone who witnessed the event to cough up some details. And even with those given, I want more. You mentioned the “whump” a placenta might make as a woman running for the stairs were to produce one. I’d like to know what sound the baby made as it traveled along the floor of the train. I couldn’t find any follow-ups, but someone must have heard something.

I’m so captivated by this story, the mayhem must have been perfect. People screaming, throwing up, calling police, trying to get the woman to respond in some way other than “We’re fine, thanks”. WE?! There was only YOU a second ago!

I suspect she may have some kind of recurring issues, her sister said she sometimes holes up and won’t talk to anyone for a while. She did have a point that no one really could have done much, but when a kid falls out of you while you’re standing on the train, the least you could do is humor people a little and have a seat.

Oh well, at least she wasn’t yapping on her cellphone the whole time.

Dangling participle of the month!

Someone’s a few pills short of a dial pack.

Thats so sad! :frowning:

Well, I think they just want to make sure she’s fit to take care of the babe. I think her reaction (or lack thereof) at least warrants a second look.

I mean, I react more when I accidentally fart on the train, never mind let a kid slip out!

Once again, life imitates Monty Python.
