Did anyone besides me watch this show? I really enjoyed it, and I’m sad to see it go so soon.
It never had a chance.
I saw every episode, all 6 or so that there were.
The atmosphere created was pretty cool, some of the episodes were medium, but at least half of them were great.
The ending to the Airplane episode was outstanding. Too bad it never really had a chance. I guess ABC needs instant hits or the shows are outta there.
Another potentially great show bites the dust.
What?
They cancelled it…in exchange for reruns of “The Practice”.
Maybe they’ll come up with a new “reality” show. Then I can just get rid of my TV altogether.
Kaf:
That airplane episode was what reeled me in. It was outstanding. I don’t watch much television, but I thought Miracles was a worthwhile diversion.
Every time this happens, I wonder why they didn’t promote it more. I rarely saw a commercial for the show when I did have it on.
I guess judging from the meager posts here, I can see why it was cancelled.
There doesn’t seem to be much to say. There were just too few episodes to even learn all that much about it.
I guess the main criticism has to be that each show took too long to develop the atmosphere and had no time left over to resolve it.
Why did their female partner, the ex-cop, have a bullet in her head? The other guy seemed to know way more than was possible, what was his story?
Aargh! It was definitely one of those shows that had a great backstory built-in, why couldn’t they have given it even a full season to develop.
I guess Miracles was a show for people who don’t regularly tune in to watch whatever happens to be on and there are too few of us around. I’d be curious to know how many people out there TiVo’d it every week. Bet that number is pretty high.
There are, I believe, seven unaired episodes that were mentioned on TVTome.com’s message board. Maybe I’ll get to see them on dvd one day.
I think it was aired to fill in the off season gap between Monday night football and baseball…I don’t know that for sure, just a guess. I don’t watch either.
BTW…I’m w/ the crowd who will turn the TV OFF rather that watch the CRAP they claim to be entertainment. Television is such wasted potential it is simply pathetic. I realize that not all television shows can be educational. But some shows that are super hits, whatever…are just fuc**ng STUPID. I’ll not start naming them, I don’t want to start a war here.
What was it opposite of anyway?
CSI:Miami and Crossing Jordan primarily.
However, from what I’ve heard (via a friend who was on the official message board at ABC before they closed it), the ratings weren’t the main problem. Though how it was supposed to get decent ratings when it was only on once a month or once every six weeks is beyond me. The problem was that Disney, who owns ABC, didn’t like it–thought it was too violent or were squicked by the semi-religious tones or whatever. I think the end of the last aired ep, “Hand of God”, (which I think was bumped or pre-empted five times!) was the straw that broke the camel’s back-- When the kid commits suicide in the police station .
One good thing, though–if anyone can be found to air the final 7 eps (a full half-season of 13 were made), the primary arc should be wrapped up. The production staff saw the way ABC was jerking the show around and since they were still filming, they quickly ramped up the story to come to a resolution by the end of the 13 eps that were already paid for. Too bad ABC didn’t even give it that much of a chance. However, the producers are still looking into finding someone else to give the show a home, and there’s the obligatory “Save [your show here]” campaign on-going at

There’s a great letter to fans from Richard Hatem, the show’s creater and co-executive producer at this site:

I was inspired to actually write him a thank you for the show at the e-mail address he posts and got a wonderful response. I don’t normally do things like that, but this is just the latest in a number of shows I enjoy to get cancel this season. I started out watching more new shows this year than I have in a while, and they all either got cancelled (Haunted, Firefly, Miracles) or quickly lost my interest (CSI: Miami, John Doe, Boomtown). I think I’ve lost that TV-loving feeling. Sigh.
