Mirena girls - anybody stop menstruating immediately? (Maybe TMI.)

I’ve had my Mirena since May of last year. Spotted a bit for one cycle and then nothing. Another plus point, I use to have horrible premenstral cramps and they’ve practically disappeared. Also used to get debilating migraines the first day of my period. Now, I might get a slight twinge of one coming on, but they never do. Mirena’s been nothing but great for me!

This. Never had one. It’s been three or four years? Not even a spot.

I demand a refund! I bled intermittently for about 2 months and now Im a year and a half in and still experience light bleeding on regular monthly cycle. That said, my cramping is minimal and its done a great job at keeping me not-pregnant. On the downside, the doc snipped my strings too short (had to get an u/s to make sure it was still there!) and it’s essentially unreachable so I’m sure getting it removed in 2015 is gonna be a blast!

My Period stop immediatly after the mirena was inserted.Had very lite spotting after insertion but i barely spot now.

Lucky you.

I got the Mirena for the express purpose of not having any more periods. It’s a month later and I’m still spotting. (Though I may have accidentally pulled it a bit loose two weeks ago, so that might be why it’s taking so long. I really wish the doctor would have told me there were supposed to be strings in there).

I’ve always had heavy periods with severe cramping. Since starting Mirena 5 months ago I’ve spotted intermittently between periods (which never happened before! Ever!) and while previously (no hormones at all, only BC used was condoms for over ten years from 24-36+ years old). Now 37 years old & have been on it for 5 months my periods are still regular but lighter & shorter. Jesus I really hope it stops soon. The Dr. Says she swears by Mirena & personally shared that she is on her second one (having totaled 7 years on it currently). She said anywhere from immediately to 3-6 months after having it my periods would gradually lessen & might even stop all together. I can’t wait for that!! But honestly after reading all these other posts about people having theirs stop immediately I wonder if I might be the “small %” that just goes from heavy to light bleeding but maybe it won’t ever be nothing. That would suck.
