The show is set in London (I think); it’s about a bunch of young adults who have powers, a guy who has the power to take and give powers, and the stuff that they do (which usually ends up with them killing someone and burying them in the woods). I don’t think I can adequately describe this show - you have to see it (a couple of episodes, even) to start getting it. But once you do (and once you start being able to understand the thick accents), it’s worth it - it’s a very entertaining, hilarious science fiction show.
You can watch it on Hulu. I’ve caught all the episodes so far. It’s best if you watch from the beginning – the third season was merely very good, as opposed to the sustained brilliance of the first two.
It definitely hurt with the loss of the one character. The replacement was nowhere near as good. But there were still some great episodes.
I think the entire Curtis/Mel arc was a hoot – Curtis finding out he was terrible in bed, and that you need to have safe sex even with yourself. The final episode is powerful, and one with the comic book writer was great, too. I especially liked the new new new social worker, who didn’t last five minutes.
The real problem with discussing the show is that it’s impossible to talk about it without spoiling it. The fun is in the plot twists as much as anything, and you don’t want newbies to know what’s coming.
I agree that the third season was a real drop in quality. At that point I was watching it more out if habit than anything else. The replacement for Nathan was just irritating, and the new powers were boring.
Ach, I should have realized three seasons in that there would be other threads! Well, still boosting it for anyone who hasn’t given it a chance yet - do! You won’t regret it (unless maybe you’re sensitive to massive amounts of swearing, rude and crude behaviour, and laughing your ass off inappropriately).
