Missing Ministry. (The band)

ahem

So I was driving my grandfather’s car last night (long
story), and started playing with the radio. I NEVER
listen to the radio in real life, as around here
there’s fuck-all to listen to. So what do I hear on
the local craptastic “Rawk” station?

04.09.03 - MINISTRY - Villa Real Convention Center.

FUCK! Fucketey fuck FUCK!

A cozy spot 20 miles from my house.

I’m broke right now, and it’s too late to get the day off at this point. anyways.

Okay, so I never thought they would show up around
here-- deep in america’s sweaty nutnack. My bad for
not checking. But next time, couldn’t one of my friends give me
a heads up?

I haven’t seen Al perform since “The Land of Rape and Honey” was a big thing. With a little advance notice, this would have been a BIG EVENT for me this year.

Hmm, after preview, looks like I’d better put this in the pit, and I should try not to sound like some angsty teenager. But that’s how I feel right now, dammit! I’m OVER 30 years old, and I still can’t go out and have fun.

Argh.

Oh, and the Rio Grande Valley still sucks.

GAH!! They played Dallas last night and I had no idea until I looked that the site you linked! cry

Luckily they’ll be back in Dallas in 6 days playing at Deep Ellum Live!! WOOOHOOOO!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
I just remembered I have EverQuest guildmates coming into town that weekend for a big RL meet…that occurs on the 12th.

cry whine whimper

Not that I don’t want to see my guildies but, but but…MINISTRY!!!

=(

…going May 4th at Roseland NYC…i hope i survive

Y’all are just going to punish me with your tales of how good the show you went to was, right? Double argh.

Cerri, You’d better go to the show

Saw that. I’m seriously thinking about it.

They have a brand new CD out that sucks just as bad as the last 2. You aren’t missing anything.

They have become a paradoy of themselves. I have never seen a band given so many chances by their fans to get their shit together and fail miserably, so many times. Al and the gang have so many people that WANT Ministry to release a real ass kicker of an album but are left dissappointed every time. I know a million people who are dying for the old Ministry to take back over like they SHOULD be able to, but then Al keeps releasing total garbage like this new album and Dark Side of the Spoon. Filth pig had a couple good ones on it, but nothing to write home about.

I love the 3 album run from Land thru Psalm. Everything before and after has bee total garbage. Al destroyed that band.

Stinkpalm, have you listened to Animositisomina all the way through? It really didn’t grab me until I was about halfway into it, and then everything fell into place.

Yes, the last couple of releases sucked, but this one is the good schtuff, damnit. Makes me want to drink vodka and break things, in a good way…

Dude, Al is the band.

This should be in Cafe Society, any moderator wanna clean up my OP and move this thing? Please?

You are correct. Al IS the band, which is why it has sunken into the abyss. He single handedly drove that band into the gutter. Filth Pig took what, 3 years or so AFTER IT WAS TOTALLY RECORDED to hit the shelves because of his “perfectionism” (aka heroin addiction). And then it comes out and its garbage? I did like a couple songs on it, I will admit though.

I will give new album a thorough listening this week sometime on your recommendation, but it sounded like more of Dark Side of the Spoon to me, and that is the worst Ministry album ever created.

April 27th, PromoWest Pavilion, Columbus, Ohio… oh yea baby!

I don’t see a Montreal date, count yourselves blessed if you can see them locally in a smallish venue. Will it play in Peoria? I’m considering flying in just for that show!

My brother just saw the L.A. HOB show and says it was incredibly loud and shitty sounding. “Al is looking more like Charles Manson every tour”, and supposedly the oldest tune they played was “Thieves”.

Sometimes it takes awhile to wrap your head around a Ministry album, they’ve stayed pretty consistently ahead of the curve, but don’t be surprised if a lot of your kids’ favourite artists 20 years from now still cite today’s Ministry (those washed up dinosaurs) as a major influence.

Or Pat Boone, it’s tough to tell how these things will go.

I hadn’t heard them in awhile, and I picked up their new album. Is it me or is it really ‘tinny and thin’ sounding? I remember their sound being a bit thicker.

Anyway I hate it. A shame, because their old stuff rocked.

I’ll probably check out their latest album, but I doubt I’ll ever go see them live again. I was extremely disappointed that Al couldn’t be bothered to even stand UP for most of the show.

Yes, he just sat in a fucking chair and looked bored to tears.

I guess it just sucks to be a rock star.
