Why didn't anyone tell me Ministry was releasing a new album next week?

Well holy hell, Ministry’s got a new album coming out next week. And I didn’t know about it until just now. Fehk. Man, I used to be the biggest Ministry fan, but then something happened (graduated high school? Bought their last three albums?). Anyone else going to the release party?

Then again, I’m one of those people who considered '84-'91 the height of culture (at least musically, we got our best Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Controlled Bleeding and all sorts of other industrial goodness although goth and punk both seemed to peak before that).

Anyway, after the last three albums, I’m too scared to listed to the streaming audio they’ve got. Anyone? I do hope that they tour again relatively soon, their last tour was the first time I got to see them and, unlike Skinny Puppy, it wasn’t a disappointment at all. I remember when I was young(er) I used to rate concerts on how close I came to getting seriously hurt. That one won hands down since I almost got killed. Whew.

I swear by all that is holy I didn’t know. If I did I would have told you.

Honest.

You lost weight?

Ba-dum-dum!

Seriously, I couldn’t care less about a new album from them, but I did see them back in the day for the A Mind is a Terrible Thing To Taste tour at the Masquerade in Atlanta. It was an awesome show and I’m glad I went with a guy that was 6’3" and 260lbs who could watch out for my 119lbs ass! I was so wet with sweat when I left that I just dropped my clothes on the floor when I got home (late). When I got back from work the next day they were still… dripping wet.

Funny story about that show: my rather large friend had only been in to Ministry for a couple of months when we went to that show. So he’d never heard any of the “Ministry-related” stuff like Pailhead. So the next day he calls me up and asks what album Jan Shoots a Reindeer was on! After a few minutes of uncontrollable laughter, I managed to tell him it’s “Man Should Surrender”.

heh… good times!

Got a link to this streaming you refer to? I assume it’s of material from the new album.

Like I said, I’m too scared to listen, althoug it’s apparently Psalm 69 part II which will be good for nostalgia’s sake if nothing else.

The funny thing is that everyone comments on how there’s a “w” in every song title, and most of the reviews I read mentioned Psalm 32, which definitely doesnt’ have a w in it.

What a bizzare simulpost, I had closed the window and reopened it later, but didn’t see perl’s post. That’s happened to me a couple of times now.

So, got the new album, went to the release party last night, underwhelmed, I think I actually liked the last three better, although I’ll have to give it a few more listens to decide.

Here’s a post that ties into both threads that you and I are posting in regularly, Chairman Pow -

Ministry and Skinny Puppy together again on tour? Sweeeeet.

While it’s a nice thought, I don’t think that a bj from Al would really make me want to do anything.

Now what might be interesting is to have a concert where you had to be a registered voter to get in (either show your card or sign up there). Of course, that eliminates the all-ages show, but seriously, who cares?

Let’s see: Ministry didn’t sell out their Chicago stop on Fornicatour (I don’t think), Skinny Puppy sold out two shows in Chicago…It’s going to be one hell of a show to try to get tickets to.
