I’ve heard and read some stuff about missing nuclear weapons from the former USSR and even some US weapons. What’s the straightdope on these stories. Fact or fiction…it’s real late here at present, so I’ll let y’all run w/ it and be back ASAP. Russia supposedly has several, between 23 - 80 warheads disappeared. The U.S. only has eleven unaccounted for. (only 11) jeeze!
anyway, I’ll get some quotes and cites in the A.M. and see ya’ later
Peace
I don’t have any hard evidence, but it’s a good bet that they’ve lost track of at least a few of the old Soviet nukes. As for the US, I have no idea.
I remember several years ago Sixty Minutes did a story about one hundred nuclear warheads that just up and disappeared out the former Soviet Union. If I remember correctly, the story focused on a general who was suspected of selling them off.
And just a few years later, both India and Pakistan announced they had the bomb.
You mean this?
“200 SOVIET NUKES LOST IN UKRAINE”
